This is just like the top 10 guitarists only now it's bass players for whoever said guitarists were overrated.

Again my list is probably different than most people. Take a look and tell me if you heard of some of the other ones.

In no particular order

1. Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse, Blotted Science)
2. Colin Marston (Behold... the Arctopus, Dysrhythmia)
3. Jonas Hellborg (solo, shawn lane)
4. Les Claypool (primus, buckethead)
5. Bootsy Collins (funkiest human alive)
6. Thomas Miller (Symphony X)
7. Mike LePond (Symphony X)
8. Victor Wooten

& my cousin Doug

Here's my favorite bassists:

In no particular order (aside from Lepond)

Mike Lepond
John Myung
Geddy Lee
Martin Mendez (Opeth)
Billy Sheehan
Franck Hermanny (Adagio... he's insane)
Glen Mollen (Circus Maximus)
Tony Levin
Joey Vera (Fates Warning, Armored Saint, a million other bands...)
Marco Hietala (Nightwish... simple, but effective)

I can't think of any more, but I'm sure I will in time. Also, the lack of Steve Harris is intentional; while I love Maiden, I find most of his bass playing to be simple, annoying, and repetitive. Great songwriter, though.

Stanley Clark is amazingly good too. I forgot to add him to my list. I also edited my list so you could see some bands and projects they are involved.

I never would have thought that Dave LaRue would make any lists...

I used to see him in a small bar in the mid 80s playing in a band called Stretch... We all would say that if this guy can't make it in this industry then there's something wrong...

He plays like a classical guitarist.

Buckethead's pretty darn good at slap too
