I think Jazz drummers are the best drummers. I love their feel! top10? Since I'm not a drummer, I'm probably not worthy to mention a top 10.

But I like:

I'm not a drummer so I probably don't know what I am talking about, but I think Neil Peart and Jason Rullo are both better than Portnoy.

Phil Ehart of Kansas has been of my all time favorites. Saw him live several times. His power and stamina are amazing.

carl palmer (emerson, lake, and palmer).
also, to repeat myself, neil peart (in my opinion, the greatest. if you get a chance to read his books, too, do it).
and, i will also say matt cameron (soundgarden). i may get a lot of flack for mentioning him, but i think he's fantastic. just a solid player who throws in the odd-time stuff here and there, and can keep impeccable time.

i do like portnoy, and there's no doubt he has extreme talent. but sometimes, in my opinion, he just overdoes it. he's like the pretentious shakespeare know-it-all/quote-him-all person in english class...but in drummer form.

And I agree on Matt Cameron. He was awesome in Soundgarden, and is just a good, solid drummer.

Grunge is the enemy of Shred, that's why I don't really like Soundgarden too much...

Mike Portnoy is a GOOD drummer, but he is definitely not one of the top 10. I love to play along to DT songs though, they're a LOT of fun!

That's true. If this were a top 10 keyboardist list he would definitely be on it. I do really like the Bal-Sagoth drum arrangements, I know it's nothing too technical but it sounds good to me... not too much else I can say that about.
