It most definitely is! Though Shadows of the Past is my favourite of their early releases. Despite the slightly more generic DM sound, Miika had a brutal voice and I always wondered why he suggested Taneli take over on vocals.

What's with everyone naming "The Cold White Light"? It's Sentenced's weakest album bar the last one imo.

Though they've been such a huge part of the last several years of my life and I'll probably regret saying it, here goes: Agreed. I've always thought TCWL was a bit disappointing. Despite having some of Sami's funniest lyrics to date (Luxury of a Grave), and the brilliance of Konevitsan Kirkonkellot/Cross My Heart..., the majority of the album sounds like filler. Especially considering the character (best I can think to describe it) and uniqueness all their previous releases had. I think they could easily top TCWL. I don't think they could ever top Down, Frozen and Crimson though.

I have a long ranked list which I just fine-tune now and then when I hear new music. I figure when my head is a little unfocused it can help me to find my bearings. My rankings have little to do with what I listen to these days nor even what I enjoy most but I figure something that was magic at one time deserves respect even if it has less conjuring powers now. Although I listen to obscure as well as popular bands, mega bands prevail among my top 10. Most Katatonia albums I placed in my top 50. Here's my top 10 :
