TOP 10 GUITARISTS

Andy la roque from king diamond is highly underrated and the most underrated of all is Doug ott of Enchant(guitar with so much feeling):worship:notworthy:worship:

Agreed on Andy...gotta check out Doug Ott.

ok...checked out a few Enchant things on Youtube...very Fates Warning-ish. Ott seems ok...no natural vibrato...that's only a sample, I know...I have to investigate further.

i just think he has some chanrm to his playing. besidesw he's a very accurate player that is as diverse as he is skilled.

i think kiko is in my top three even.

I've watched a bunch of Youtube videos with this guy...I must be missing something...his Stanley Jordan style tapping thing is nice, but what's so special about anything else? People put this guy on a pedestal...I'm not sure why...nothing I haven't heard before.

Same here. The guy has good chops and is more musical than many of his peers (imo) but he just doesn't do it for me.

actually no gravity came after universo inverso. and iu can't decide which i like better. they are for two completely different moods. i am definately in the mood for no gravity more often though.

A lot of the youtube stuff isn't very impressive....the quality is poor and you can't really hear it. Although you can see that his execution live is always spot on...the tone on the CDs is just amazing. The problem is that you can still see all the chops on youtube, so a chops-based player doesn't lose much, but a lot of the musicality is lost when videos like Kiko's are put up.

I just really love his feel and the way he makes musical phrases. Something about his solos always just makes me want to pump my fist and say "yeah!", you know? Lots of guys might play more chops but I zone out. And lots of guys can cover his stuff note for note, but again I get bored; he just does it best. And his jazz playing is superb.

I'm a drummer, not a guitar player so I haven't heard as many players as some people here. Can you post some youtubes to guys that you think are the same vein as Kiko but better in your opinion? It'd be interesting to see.

No Gravity copyright is 2005; Universo Inverso copyright 2006. Unless you mean that he formed the Universo Inverso group first and just recorded it later. In an interview he mentioned that No Gravity represented some of his earlier rock influences, whereas as Universo Inverso was a later transition into other things like jazz.

I'm surprised Guthrie Govan isn't up on people's lists. I cbf reading every page but I couldn't see his name on the ones I looked at.

MY TOP TEN

1. Jason Becker

2. Guthrie Govan
3. Paul Gilbert
4. Micheal Romeo
5. Yngwie Malmsteen
6. Marty Friedman
7. Ron Jarzombek (probably haven't heard of him)
8. Jeff Loomis and Chris Broderick (tie, HAHA)
9. Jari Maenpaa (Wintersun, Ensiferum)
10. David Gilmour (beautiful touch and tone)

Too many to list, too much diversity...

My list. Guthrie is not well-recognized but is an amazing player (understatement). I still have Becker as #1 because I'm one of his biggest fanboys
