My list:
Alesis HR16; doesn't argue, doesn't get tired, doesn't forget parts, doesn't think he's a bad ass for hitting things all day long, doesn't sweat all over the tour bus, doesn't steal all the loose women, and best of all - doesn't demand song writing credits for just hitting shit all day long.
Top three drummers???
How about top three qualities in a drummer:
1. Learn fast and remember.
2. Have complete awareness of what the other instuments are doing in each part.
3. Get it in the first or second take.
Bonus: Know how to tune drums heads - properly!!
Dammit Steve, you left out timing... maybe because it's a given.. but, you'd be surprised... or maybe you wouldnt be, since you've been doing music long enough.. to find how many fucking "drummers" cant keep a tempo steady wortha shit.
My timing is shot, what do I care about drummers with good time? I couldn't tell the difference between good and bad timing anyway, fuck it...just jam.
I was sorta messing around. Plus I only had three things to choose from and it was semi directed at someone inparticular. No hints...!
We could start a three best qualities of a bassist, it would go something like this:
1. Turn down
2. Bring the beer
3. Turn down
well its kind of hard cuz there is a lot of good drummers out there and its so hard to choose...
i like Jon Allen's work and i think that Sean Reinert and Dave Lombardo r really kicking ass... but as i said, there is a lot of good drummers...
u have the speed of light drummer Hellhammer, u have Pete Sandoval and... damm there is a lot of them...
I'm forced to agree. Mayhem is awesome and I think Hellhammer is an excellent drummer but a lot of times, particuarily live, he seems kind of...well... sloppy. His fills are nothing spectacular, either. I used to think Hellhammer was #1 but then I became a Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal fan. There's some drummers for ya ass.
