A great year for music, IMO. These are in no particular order:

Behemoth: The Apostasy
Dark Tranquillity: Fiction
Queens of the Stone Age: Era Vulgaris
Porcupine Tree: Fear of a Blank Planet
Nine Inch Nails: Year Zero

That's about it for me. Not a ton of metal, though I do think a lot of good metal came out this year. I just think these are extraordinarily good.

I always listen to my new stuff through headphones first, when its being played out loud through speakers, there are always parts that you miss =]

You need this album. Its my new personal favorite from QOTSA. It isn't as much as concept album as Lullabies to Paralyze, but some individual tracks from Era are stronger than anything on Lullabies. 100% recommended.
Tracks to definitely check out: Make it Wit Chu, Battery Acid, I'm Designer - hell, they're all great.

You re absolutely right. By now we all know 2007 popular bands' best albums, but as a matter of fact, lesser known bands releases will appear before our eyes during this very year (if we re lucky).

Still, it's fun compiling best 10 lists and such isnt it?

Not really due to my project. Tho I do listen to stuff on my iPod, but
that is only on my way to work, which isn't all that much.
