Tracking Question

Hello, all. Im new here, and Im liking all of the helpful and useful info.
Anyways, here is my question:

When you have 2 guitarists in a band, do you quad track both of them? Or do you just get 2 tracks from each to total 4?

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I didnt see this in the search.

usually (for me) 2 of each unless they play exact parts and arent tight together, then it is 4 of one guy and the other goes and get lunch

For rhythm parts, I find it better to just multi-track the player that has a better handle on the song. It will save you a lot of time and usually you'll get better results.

I am currently recording my band (2 guitarists) and depending on the song it has been 2 of each mostly with one being me only quad tracking.

thats when you let them track their cheez and then record them yourself when they leave
