TS9+XXX+Harley... again

Then why is there so many different types of tubes?
So they can all sound the exact same?
There are differences...but extremely small ones. Tubes have been around much longer than electric guitars...they are components in a circuit. They don't make different tubes to intentionally sound a certain way. They all just happen to react differently.

To be completely honest...MOST people are not even able to hear the difference between power tube types. Much more change comes from preamp tubes.

You sound fucking stupid assuming that one tube sounds exactly the same as another.... You are basically calling out that a shuguang el34 sounds the same as a would be JJ 6l6 tube.
I am 100% certain if you were blindfolded and I changed the tubes in your amp from el34 to 6l6 you wouldn't have the slightest clue which one was which.

If you want to change tube types in your amp...by all means do it...but don't expect it to solve any problems.

I have been building amps and doing repairs/mods locally for many years.

In an amp where most of the tone comes from the preamp, the difference between poweramp tubes isn't nearly as big as one would expect.

I was using that as an example,,,, when I said tubes, I meant tubes. Pre's and Power.

And once again....

They do give the amp different sounds. LIke using certain ones in v2, v3, etc for reduced gain/fizzyness. So many different combos... Why do you think people do these combos? And try certain tubes in places??? Spend money on it ...

I guess some of your answers would be Because theres such a small difference they dont even notice?

Think about what youre saying and why there are so many different TYPES of tubes.. for different TYPES of sound. You sound rediculous.

Did you even read my post?...different types aren't intended to make different sounds!!!...yes some do...but the reason for different types is because different circuits call for different tubes to operate.

You specifically have mentioned the power tubes several times.

As for preamp tubes...and considering most high gain amps will only work with 12ax7 or 12at7...not much option there. And the difference between brands is quite small. The reason I choose the tubes I do...is 100% because of reliability. Once again...I could switch between tung sol, ruby, jj, eh, etc and and you would hear little to no difference.

Some amps respond differently, And have more impact on tube choices....
This is why there are so many types of tubes I imagine.

OH well I notice a difference when listening to a pair of groove 12ax7 and a jj 12ax7. It was on a clip around here. The change was noticable enough to impact my decision on one of the 2 tubes. And combos change the dynamics even more... Using different tube types in different positions... etc.

Tubes have been around longer than amps!!...they aren't made for amps..the different types aren't made for different sounds. Vacuum tubes have other purposes than just guitar amps...I'm not saying tubes don't change the sound...but I am saying that they don't change much.

The reason for what you heard on the earlier post is a result of two things.
1. GROOVE TUBES SUCK! they are just rebranded crap tubes.
2. The groove tubes were old and the jjs were brand new.

In my SLO I have a tung sol in v1 a "high gain" jj in v2 and the rest are ruby.
The difference between those and a whole set of electro-harmonics is less than the difference between a cheap cable and a monster(or other expensive cable).
Yes there is a difference...but it is not worth the time and money.

Haha, this guy is just plain stupid ;)

I won't say there's no noticeable difference, but pointing to that thread as an argument for the noticeable difference just shows how little knowledge you have..
one set of tubes was new, one old, one a bit warmer than the others etc...and, the difference between tubes that were used 10 mins and tubes that heated up for 50 mins is probably bigger than the difference between the brands...
plus, did you consider that the amp in that clip had been moved (you have to move an amp to do the biasjob, youknow?by putting the amp on the cab again the cab vs. mic position will be changed a little bit, even that change will make a bigger difference.

like they all said and you still won't believe:
tubes sound differently, yes....preamptubes have more effect than poweramptubes, especially in a high-gain head.

el34 have more high-mids and less bottom than 6l6, yes, BUT the difference is not big enough that it'll solve any problems!
and someone like you that has little to no experience in anything that has to do with audio won't have ears that are trained enough to even notice it.

but hey, do whatever you want, you could even try putting a lightbulb in there (you know that's even bigger than KT88 imagine how much bass it'll give you..).

I just really wanna know one thing:
why did you ask in the first place?

you know it all better anyway.....
but seriously, if you're not trollin' (and that's hard to believe) you must be so ignorant that you even touched the stove 10 times in a row although your mother (that might in that case be your sister as well) told you it's hot....

dude, you have NO idea how tubes even work!

but we really had fun reading your rants, now go and by a quad of 6L6, put them in your head or any other part of your body, then sell it and be happy....

STOP INSULTING PPL THAT ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU!!! especially when you aked for that help.

honestly: you don't live by chance in Minnesota and have a studio you call "The Box"?
