TV Shows

Its pretty much true, you maybe 1 quality tv show every 3 years. We are now in the True Detective era, just leaving Breaking Bad

Novels?!? What is this shit?!? We should stick to plays and poems!

I remember when this first came out. I laughed at the premise. Recently though, out of utter boredom, not much else available on Netflix at the moment, and a reco by at least three of my coworkers, I started watching this show.
While watching the pilot, I chuckled a little at the preposterousness of it. Immediately notable - a motorcycle club chick who leaves the town to become a doctor? Who wrote her letters of recommendation for med school? The members of SAMCRO?
And then she leaves a lucrative position at a Chicago hospital to move back to the middle of nowhere to reignite her love affair with Jax - a motorcycle club leader with an IQ of about 90?
Other silliness includes 1) all of SAMCRO's enemies being utterly and completely incompetent. ALL of them. Gangsters who rose up in the 'hoods of Oakland cannot take on a handful of rural NoCal gun-runners 2) a local deputy sheriff who in one episode is bristling with hate for SAMCRO and is going to bring them down at any cost but a few episodes later is interfering with a federal investigation against the gang for reasons that are never revealed except that he went to high school with some of the members 3) the members of SAMCRO, while apparently having no money - which is one of the major running plot lines of season one - always come up with an attack plan worthy of a cost-no-object Black Ops unit 4) all members of SAMCRO are invincible - there's a gun battle in every episode but only one member ever gets shot and it's conveniently just a "minor" wound in the shoulder 5) all members of SAMCRO are experts in hand-to-hand fighting and no one ever gets the jump on them even though they all chain-smoke, are constantly drunk, and the President has debilitating osteoarthritis 5) The federal agents in the show are - conveniently - just as sociopathic as the criminals and catastrophically fail to bring them to justice 6) SAMCRO not only manages to locate a federal witness safe-house but also subdues the two guards standing watch outside (it's not revealed how this is accomplished), a federal agent inside the house by sneaking up behind her (first day on the job?) and then threatens the witness to a SAMCRO murder into leaving the country and never coming back or they will kill her. At this point, I presume, we are supposed to cheer that the murderers got away with a crime yet again. Oh, and none of this is ever addressed again in the show. So after the federal agents escaped from their bonds to find their witness was missing, they were just like "fuck it"?

I'm going to keep watching this show because I've decided it's supposed to be a comedy. I've read that they eventually go off to Ireland and I'm already laughing at the idea of it.

Where are you now in the show Jonathan? This "dramedy" is the supreme definition of guilty pleasure. Truly non-sensical, convoluted, outrageously over the top, devoid of characters with any virtue or redeeming qualities, yet I can't help but be enthralled.

You gave me a thumbs down?
I stopped watching it the day before I wrote that diatribe. I think I had made it into season 2. I have no interest in resuming the mental torture.

Ps: lol at NAD

Warm-tonned orange-brick blush and cold-tonned beige lipstick.... Kim needs to start sucking more dicks to afford a better makeup artist. For now this is just a tragedy for my eyes.

Anyway, started watching House of Cards. Not really my most favorite topic ever, but some stuff is pretty well done.

"Dexter"
Fairly watchable and entertaining but I'm towards the end of season 4 and I'm wondering how many innocent people Dexter is going to kill or cause to be killed because he continually interferes with law enforcement's efforts to catch the Trinity Killer.
Other maddening stuff includes: 1) Dexter works less than any human being ever. He's actually in his office about an hour a day and half of that is spent researching potential victims. 2) he is constabtly interrupted by mundane situations when on one of his missions. In seasons 3 and 4 they are almost exclusively demands from his wife that he come home or pick something up from the store etc

There's other stuff but I just got really bored writing that so fuck it

I started watching The Walking Dead.

Even though I had never seen it until just recently, I used to complain about that show because they had a show about the show (The Talking Dead) and also at all the comic conventions the fanboyism surrounding their booth always annoyed my nerd-o-meter just a touch.

...

The show is really fucking good.

I enjoy eating crow.

It gets painfully bad. What season are you on? I had to turn off in season 2. Talking Dead is actually pretty funny sometimes. Theres one with Marilyn Manson that is particularly entertaining.

I still have to finish the last season. The show will get more tedious as you continue.

Haha I believe you

I'm watching finale of season 4 right now and, sure enough, while in hot pursuit of Trinity, he gets an annoying phone call from his wife  It happens literally every episode

I loved Season 2! I haven't started season 3 yet, but I will soon enough. It's not OMFG GAYMAZING but I am quite entertained.

The concept of having a TV show about a TV show just seemed really, really lame to me. And I'm sure that it is plenty fun, but still... I won't be watching that.

Maybe it was season 3 that sucked. I can't remember. Anyway, it's a very popular show, surely nothing wrong with it. But having read all the comics I was left feeling a little empty with the TV show.

Enjoy!

Ftr I've seen every episode haha! Even though I turned it off, the wife kept watching it so I saw it all by default
