Seriously, that book has some of the most disgusting sex stuff I've ever read. There's a great scene (I don't want to give too much away) where this broad dressed up like some black queen from the Kabbalah shits and pisses in an old dude's mouth. It's pretty gnarly.

Damn. Not much you can say about that and not give it away...

Thomas Pynchon - Gravity's Rainbow

Did you ever finish this, dude?

I'm doing my sporadic working-my-way-through-it-again thing and MY GOD IS THIS NOT THE GREATEST BOOK EVER. Being a creative writing student, I am constantly in awe of Pynchon's authority of knowledge, unique descriptions and postmodern stylistics. Fucking hell, if I could only write like that... It's just sickening.

I always recomand anything by Terry Pratchette,
just because he is simply brilliant, interesting, and will make you laugh out loud in front of a book.
The Discworld series is a must to everyone, IMO.

A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. Possibly the funniest book ever written.

Also, seconding the Song of Ice And Fire series again cause it's fucking badass, the best fantasy since Tolkien more or less spawned the genre.
