How is gothic music artistic? because there's lots of fancy make-up and artwork with some bird who has a nice voice on it singing about lost love and some "mysterious" creepy guy on synths in the background?

Im quite aware that im stereotyping but im immensely bored

No no, im not saying gothic metal is crap. Im just asking why it you think it's so much more artistic than other metal genres. I'm also not standing up for the billions of generic death metal bands either. I was pissed off as well as bored earlier, but i am no longer either of those

I like the gothic sound if it's mixed with doom ala My Dying Bride, Autumn, Forest of Shadows

Well even though I dont think My Dying Bride are gothicmetal, they blow everything else out of the water in my opinion. I do very much enjoy later Tiamat

Yeah mdb arent gothic metal, they're doom but with a gothic feel/sound to them, especially the dreadful hours and songs of darkness, words of light
