Starting with my favorite, Fates Warning...

1. The Spectre Within (a perfect power metal album with consistently interesting ideas, mastery of both catchy anthems and massive atmospheric epics, and one of the earliest progressive metal albums)
2. A Pleasant Shade of Grey (I realize the jump from Arch-era to this is drastic and probably no one else would put the two next to each other, but this is one of my ultimate late-night & headphones albums)
3. Perfect Symmetry (pioneering "true"/contemporary progressive metal but still very efficient and non-masturbatory, every song standing out distinct)
4. Disconnected (kinda what I said about APSOG, but the electronic elements and droning/dystopian atmosphere make it even more mood-dependent for me (but it can easily be my second favorite when I'm entirely in the mood))
5. Inside Out (it does have a few weaker fillers that give it the Parallels v2 reputation, but it's a great transition between their more accessible earlier couple albums and their darker later couple, and there are a few all-time favorites here as well)
