Garm > Vortex, imo. Garm's thirds and fourths harmonies he does are amazing and sound better than Vortex's. Vortex has a nice and powerful voice, but Garm is truly a gem in this genre.

no, his best vocal performances aren't in Dimmu and are on "full songs". Borknagar - Colossus and Arcturus - The Chaos Path to be exact

Garm era and Vintersorg era Borknagar is good, a few great gems to be offered from both but they fail in comparison to The Archaic Course and Quintessence.

The Archaic Course, is in my opinion, one of the best albums ever made. Period.

And Simen is great in full length songs, I am devastated still by the news about him not being in Code... now we won't hear shit until the Dimmu Borgir album in 2010, and if we're lucky the new Lamented Souls album will come out around then too.

I wouldn't describe them as that I know that their theme is pagan/viking but I think their sound is very distinct. Avante-Garde Black Metal would be the way I'd describe it.

Quintessence, and skip the first track on your first listen. then get Archaic Course and Epic, in that order

Naw, if you like more OMGBLACKMETAL sound then go for Quintessence first, then TAC, but if you like the epic clean vocals mixed with epic growls that gives an avante-garde feel, go for TAC first. It's a matter of personal taste really, both CD's are great, I prefer TAC more though.

P.S. Rivalry of Phantoms is a good song, wtf!
