Unholy Alliance Tour

In some countries in Europe the Unholy Alliance was headlined by SlipsKnuT (as we say in Sweden). Lucky Prussia wasn't one of them. Has anyone thought about that Hanneman's guitars are probably illegal in som European countries, Germany included?

how would a guitar be illegal?

Im against the national socialism of hitler and the NSDAP, and i dont like the nazis who are still in germany and in the rest of the world. Only because of the nazi symbols (the helmet and yes, the ss runes) it is that i dont have something with slayer. The music is good, still not my favourite, but sorry.. i cant accept the nazi symbols they use.
and certainly in germany, i can understand why the guitar is illegal. But i dont think that the people who still suffer from the nazi-regime will be at the concerts of slayer.. (i mean, the youngest ones who lived then are know at least 60) but you never know!

By now even some of the other old runes have been prohibited, because some Neo-Nazi-Shitheads used it as symbol for their ... groups.
You might even get in trouble for wearing a Thor-Hammer ...

for a thor hammer.. why is that?

A lot of stupid nazis here use the mjölnir as their symbol because it isn't illegal. Stupid, the nazis never used a mjölnir as their symbol in the past... the 'modern' nazis only use it because the hammer is a strong symbol (Hammer chrushes the weak and so on...) and because it has a connection to the runes and the illegal symbols of norse mythology.

Yeah, thats quite stupid. i mean, i never saw the Mjölnir in the german history as a symbol of the nazis as you already said. And i know quite a lot about the third empire because i'm very interested in it. Ofcourse the nazi's used a lot of old symbols.. but there is no link with thors hammer and the reason you give why the so-called neo-nazi's use is true. Those people always liked to use 'strong' symbols..

when we talk about runes by the way, last i wore a tshirt of moonsorrow. And in the name, yes.. one single s-rune. A boy came to me.. he said: 'thats the s of the ss!', are you a nazi!?'
never were so angry against someone.. i dont like it when people call me a nazi only because of my army boots (always wear them under my trousers.. so whats the problem?) or in this case the s-rune. But it reminded me that in the case i go to germany.. it is better not to walk with that shirt in the streets. i dont want to be seen as a nazi..

Its not because the nazi regime didn't use the Mjolnir that its impertinent that neo nazis or nationalists today use it... try to be objective guys.. and anyway they don't use it as a symbol of their movement instead of the swastika, some just wear the symbol or have it tatooed as a symbol of their ancestral culture that they wish to defend and/or revive.

and by the way, Slayer aren't nazis. Tom Araya is a latino, i believe he has native indian origins. they are just somewhat fascinated by the strength of the nazi regime i guess.. or its to shock. just like how they are christians but they still have lyrics about satanism.

Yes I mean really, how rebellious is it to wear prints of Che or red stars today? This is the reason why Sid Vicious would wear a Swastika T-shirt, because it's the most offensive, shocking symbol there is in post-war Europe. Also, alot of people are blaming nazis as "misusers" of ancient symbols, thus making it harder for other non-political heathens etc. to wear it. Shouldn't you blame the ignorant, ani-culturous people who are banning you from using them and are being totally prejudice against you?

I think it's not important if Slayer are nazis or not - such symbols are misplaced on a guitar especially if you use it on stage. You should be carefull with such symbols.
And yes, nazis don't use the mjölnir for their movement...but most of them use it because it is part of their scene (I only know sth. about the situation in Germany!) - It is used like an indicator for their movement. Sadly but true...

Well as TheLastWithPaganBlood so truly said : don't blame the neo nazis or nationalists who are just rightfully proud of their ancestral culture, blame the idiots who think that if you have a mjölnir or if you're a patriot you are obviously a nazi. sorry to say but the saddest thing in germany (and actually in most western european countries) is the mentality of not being allowed to be proud of your country or else you are considered a nazi. i prefer the proud people to those who just don't give a shit. i prefer the nationalists, which is what i am incidently.

what is now a symbol of white power/pride is the celtic cross with equal lengths to the arms.. even in germanic countries.

Jeff Hanneman is fascinated by WWII nazi memorabilia and is the one who usually writes the songs that have any nazi connotations to them.

And Celtik, where did you hear they were kristjian? I never heard that before
