Upcoming Movies...

Saw "Inception", definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen.

Saw "The Other Guys", and thought it was pretty funny, but not amazing.

Saw "The Expendables", and almost died of a mangasm. It is the manliest movie I have ever seen. As someone put it, "my erection had an erection".

I saw Inception expecting to like it (I loved Batman Begins and liked Memento but didn't enjoy The Dark Knight or The Prestige much) and ended up loving it, it really connected to my passion for creating things and tendency to get lost in my own thoughts :p Magnificent score by Hans Zimmer too - http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2...-extracts-the-secrets-of-the-inception-score/

The movies I'm most looking forward to now are Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and this:

:)

I saw that forthcoming teen-angst-vamp parody Vampires Suck yesterday.... It's moderately funny, but most of the humor was front-loaded; it tails off (pardon the pun) toward the end. (Which is also a pun....hmm.)

The movies I'm most looking forward to now are Voyage of the Dawn Treader,

* instant interest *

Oh?

Muzt...research......

there are a few movies coming out soon that i would like to see

Your Highness with Zooey Deschanel- plot-Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world--Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent's fiancée before their kingdom is destroyed.
Thadeous (McBride) has spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people. Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he's settled for a life of wizard's weed, hard booze and easy maidens. But when Fabious' bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux), the king gives his deadbeat son an ultimatum: Man up and help rescue her or get cut off.
Half-assedly embarking upon his first quest, Thadeous joins Fabious to trek across the perilous outlands and free the princess. Joined by Isabel (Natalie Portman)--an elusive warrior with a dangerous agenda of her own--the brothers must vanquish horrific creatures and traitorous knights before they can reach Belladonna. If Thadeous can find his inner hero, he can help his brother prevent the destruction of his land. Stay a slacker, and not only does he die a coward, he gets front row seats to the dawn of an all-new Dark Ages.

Icarus -Dolph Lundgren - plot-There were those who called him Icarus. Everyone else knew him as a divorced father working for an investment company. But they didn't know his other side-his dark side. Because Icarus was at his best when he was killing people. For years, he'd worked as a sleeper agent in America-but when the Soviet Empire collapsed, he found himself in a foreign country with no one to trust. Determined to break from his dark past, he started over with a new identity. But you can only escape your past for so long. When a sudden mishap in Hong Kong blows Icarus' identity, past and present collide - and the assassin realizes he is now the target. The people that want him dead will stop at nothing to get to him. And that means going after what he cares about most-his wife and daughter. Fighting for his life, Icarus is forced to face the demons of his past to protect the loved ones in his present. He must fight to save the only thing he's ever done right in his life. He needs to uncover who is after him and protect his family - before it's too late

The Lazarus Papers - Gary Daniels - plot-Lonny Smith, a young man with a suitcase full of money who might drop dead at any moment searching for love with each dying breath even if he has to pay for it, an ex-assassin slave runner who operates a mail order bride scam exploiting prostitutes infected by HIV, a mysterious club owner named Kyo who manages a cabaret show and a vixen named Nana, the girl who will bring it all crashing down will carve their way through the macabre alleys of a magical land buried in South East Asia; in a city named Pali, the city of gold. In two days their lives will twist and turn, slicing a bloody trail leading them to a cryptic divine plan to create a new Lotus, an individual that can heal anything he/she touches, only, the current Lotus is suicidal, and has promised never to heal again.
This two day adventure bereft with unfortunate players in a do-or-die land will entwine together in the most abstract of ways to create a unique ethnically diverse surreal love action crime drama that questions the importance of life and love at the barrel of a pink handled gun; through their eyes, we will uncover a miracle in the most unlikely of places.

The Expendables kicks ass Dolph Lundgren and Gary Daniels have always been my top two fav. actors, and this is the second movie to have both of them together in (first on Retrograde, and it kind of sucks), but I have to say Dolph character in the movie is the best, and Gary Daniels finally gets some great American theater screen time. I loved the movie! Now I can't wait to see Gary Daniels as Brian Fury in the Tekken movie,it should be coming out in the usa soon. Same for the new Dolph movie Icarus.

I have yet to see Inception but will try for this week.

There are the 2 movies coming out I'm looking forward to the most.
I missed the Chicago screening on this documentary, most likely I'll have to wait 'till it's out on dvd.

The history buff in me can't wait to see this.

These are some movies I saw recently that I really liked, all on Netflix Player. (Was on an English/Irish kick lately) .

The Wind that Shakes the Barley was just OK. I really wanted to see it and I thought it just dragged a but.

I highly recommend ELITE SQUAD. It is about the corruption of the police in the Brazilian slums. Written by the guy who wrote City of God.

@progmetalprincess yay, seems to be hard to find anyone interested in Legend of the Guardians, I hope it doesn't bomb at the box office :p I loved Animal Logic's previous work on Happy Feet, they really do justice to animals :)

@Pellaz here's a deconstruction of those "parody movies" that predicted Vampires Suck a year ago :p

Yeah, the Narnia franchise was picked up by Fox after Disney dropped it and the word on this one is positive, Douglas Gresham (C.S. Lewis' stepson) says it's very good, only problem is the trailers so far have been pretty badly put together IMO. Here's the first one any way :)

oOOooohhhh that's music to my ears. City of God is probably the movie I recommend the most and it never fails to make an impression on people.
I'll check this one out.

I saw the previews for Legend of the Guardians and it looked beautiful. So I am definitely excited to see it. I want to see the new Narnia too. I've read a few of the books but I think I'm going to go back and finish.

I am looking forward to this:

And

And

A few have mentioned Inception. What a great movie. I saw it twice so far and I could go see it again. I am also looking forward to a possible Arrested Development movie as in the tv show Arrested Development of 2003-2006 and I am stoked to hear that Judge Dredd is going to get a do over and it sounds like it may get done right this time. Drokk it!

Batman/Superman Apocalypse. After getting Batman Under the Red Hood,I saw in the special features the trailor for Apocalypse, and there is one thing that will make this movie even more kickass than RedHood. Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly are doing the voices for Batman, and Superman just like old times!! In Redhood Bruce Greenwood did Batman, and John DiMaggio did the Joker, it should always be Kevin Conroy Batman, and Mark Hamill Joker,Just like the Animated Series.

So far I'm looking forward to:

- The American
- Machete
- The Town
- Howl (looks like an incredible indie)
- A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop (Chinese remake of Blood Simple by the director of Hero and House of Flying Daggers)
- The Social Network (Didn't like the idea of this film, but when I heard Fincher was doing it and especially after seeing the trailer, I really want to see)

Speaking of which, did you ever see City of Men? The sequel to City of God? One movie I've been meaning to see but haven't.
