FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

QUEENSRYCHE FALL TOUR, PRESENTED BY VH1 CLASSIC, TO FEATURE PERFORMANCE OF LEGENDARY ALBUM 'OPERATION:MINDCRIME' IN ITS ENTIRETY ALONG WITH FULL, ENHANCED PRODUCTION INCLUDING LIVE ACTORS

A GREATEST-HITS SET WITH LIVE STRINGS ALSO PLANNED

BAND WILL ALSO DEBUT PORTION OF MUSIC FOR UPCOMING SEQUEL STUDIO ALBUM TENTATIVELY TITLED 'OPERATION:MINDCRIME II'

Art rock pioneers Queensryche will perform the classic album 'Operation:mindcrime' in its entirety on the upcoming fall 2004/winter 2005 tour, which is being presented by VH1 Classic. A "greatest hits" set will open each show, and at the end of the night there will be a preview of the upcoming Sanctuary Records release 'Operation:mindcrime II,' the working title of the long-awaited, eagerly desired sequel to the groundbreaking concept album. Audiences will be blown away by the Surround Sound audio setup on the tour.

Vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarist Michael Wilton, guitarist Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield will open each show with a "greatest hits" set ending with the smash "Silent Lucidity." Local orchestra string sections will perform with the band in select cities. Michael Igor Delassandra, formerly an official composer for the Vatican, will accompany Queensryche and perform on keyboards.

“The band is so excited to be performing 'Operation:mindcrime' in its entirety again after not having done this in 15 years," says Tate. "We are presenting it in a whole new way that finally does justice the intricacies of the story and the personalities of the characters.”

'Operation:mindcrime' will be recreated in full with enhanced production. Live actors will embody the fascinating characters of this chilling tale -- interacting both on stage and off. Vocalist Pamela Moore, who toured with Queensryche recently, will be back to provide the vocals of the album's pivotal character, "Sister Mary." New video footage will be incorporated as well. Queensryche also performed 'Operation:mindcrime' in its entirety in 1990-91, but this time around new and expanded video footage will be used. Fans who saw the show in 1990-91 will enjoy a more vivid experience this time.

One of the most exciting parts of each concert will certainly be the finale -- the preview of 'Operation:mindcrime II.' Fans have wanted a sequel ever since 'Operation:mindcrime' exploded and earned the band critical acclaim and commercial success. In particular, fans have always asked one burning question in relation to the 'Operation:mindcrime' plot: "Who killed Sister Mary?" The new album, scheduled for release in 2005, will address that question.

The North American tour begins in October 2004 and another run of dates is planned to start in January 2005. Upcoming dates include:

I can't see a band that has COMPLETELY changed its members, style, writing, and focus going back and matching one of the best albums ever, one that is 15 years old, just because they name it a sequel.

Won't happen.

I still think the live concert sounds cool, though.

Yeah I will be going too. But they have to make this album good. For some reason I have confidence in them.

Considering how much their songwriting abilities have declined in recent years, I'll be surprised if the sequel has even a tenth of the original's power...this is one of the most blatant back to the classic sound ploys I've ever seen.

I'm intrigued, but it depends on who's opening if I bother to go to Orlando or not.
It is billed as an 'Evening With' which usually means that there will be no opening act. They are going to play 2 sets with an intermission. The second half of the show will be Mindcrime in it's entirety. The last couple of albums may have sucked, but they still deliver the goods live. I'll be at the Clearwater show.

I'll be at the show as well, assuming they come to SF. I'm highly skeptical of the new disc even remotely matching O:M. They haven't put out anything decent in a long time and DeGarmo is gone. He cowrote or wrote more than half of O:M. But then again, he was part of Tribe and that blew chunks. Who knows, I'll definitely be there though cause they still kick ass live.

I'll be there too... Hope they come nearby NY... . And I don't think Operation pt 2 will be as good as the 1st one (duh) but I have confidence that the Ryche won't disappoint us.

They have enough talent to come up with a very good sequel for Operation Mindcrime. Let's just hope they'll use the talent... =)

In the meantime... The new A Deadsoul Tribe is awesome!!!!

They need to grow balls and play "Queen Of The Reich" as part of this greatest hits set. As far as the album goes I don't know if they will match the original but im confident it will blow the last several studio albums out of the water. I saw them summer of 03 with Fates Warning and Dream Theater and earlier this year with Symphony X and they still kick major ass live. This also means I will finally be able to see them do one of my all time favorite songs by them "I Don't Believe In Love". They were doing it on and off this past tour and the night I saw them happened to be the night they did not play it. Hopefully more from Warning as well such as "Take Hold Of The Flame".

I think the first set would be dominated by 'Emipre' material, but they should throw in some early songs as well...'Lady Wore Black' would rule. I was surprised, but very, very happy, that they played 'NM 156' & 'Screaming In Digital' when I saw them with DT. Those are two of my fave QR songs. I would like to hear some more stuff off 'Rage For Order'...an underrated classic,IMO.

Although I am excited about hearing/seeing Mindcrime live again, I really wish that Queensryche would hire another guitar player with some writing talent.
I loved Chris's playing but come on! Can't they at least get someone who can handle his leads. Their not that complex are they?
Anyway, I could name a bunch of guitarists in the prog metal scene that would be perfect. I hope they reconsider before they put out another passionless weak Cd like Q2k & Tribe.

If I go and they don't play Gonna Get Close To You, my brain will implode.
They could play 'RFO' as the first set & 'O:M' as the second set, and I would go home a very happy guy. I really hope they do pull out some oddball choices, but expect the 'greatest hits' portion to be the more well known songs...again, probably dominated by 'Empire' songs.

When I saw them with DT they played 3 from Empire and 2 from Mindcrime

the rest was crap. one of the worst shows ever!
That's surprising. When they came here with DT, they played about 4 songs from 'Empire' and ended their set with 5 straight from 'O:M'. They only played 2 songs off anything later than 'Empire'...1 from 'Tribe'(Open) & 1 from 'Promised Land'(Damaged).

I quite enjoyed their sets last year... they didn't differ much, and I saw them 4 times, so I would assume they played essentially the same stuff throughout the tour. I just ordered my ticket and tho I'm not expecting much from this O:m 2 thing, I missed the Empire tour because of a TicketBastard error, so I'll enjoy finally getting to see all of O:m live.

Of course, RFO live would kick complete ass, too, but if wishes were horses... :)

I really don't see anything they could come up for any future albums being very powerful since Geoff Tate appears to be in charge now and the man just really doesn't seem to like metal at all, given various interviews and that godawful solo album.

Tickets went on sale for the Atlanta date this past Saturday.... I'm curious as to how well it's selling...or not. (I'll have my roommate call the Tabernacle in a few days; he knows all those people.)
