The K100 sound very muffled. They have a much bigger dome so it's no surprise the same placement as the V30 will sound weird. Never liked the eminence I heard.

For modern, v30 by far. For a bit more oldskool vibes, the Texas Heat sounds very good to me. Had to think of old Slayer when I heard it.

+1000 for using this riff in a shootout by the way :D

Well the V30 is the only one that's balanced. Other speakers should be mic'ed differently. Maybe put the SM57 a bit closer to the center? Dunno...

Kinda defeats the purpose of a direct comparison to go fucking around with settings and changing mic positions, don't ya think?

If I optimized the mic for all the speakers, there'd be no comparison because they'd only have subtle differences at best. In the room the differences are nearly the same as in the mic'ed clip. The EQ on the E530 was dialed in for the K100, actually, since that's what I was using prior to buying the pair of V30s. The mic position was optimized for the V30 as I was originally just going to record it as a "Hey guize I finally has V30" thing.

I think it's fairer to the speakers and listeners this way as they're mostly familiar with the V30 so they'll know what the sweet spot for a V30 will sound like on the others.

I am digging the V30 the most, but don't dislike the other two speakers either. The K100's low-end is nice.

Isn't this a bit pointless? If you're not going to give each speaker the best opportunity to sound good, all you're doing is micing up a V30 to sound good, and then deliberately making the other two sound shit by not making adjustments.... and then people go "Wow! The V30 really is the king of high-gain!!"

Meh. I've heard the K100's do much better tones than this. Can't speak for the Texas heat ones.

I don't know exactly what you want, on re-read. Do you want DIs from the guitar or from the E530? I can give you both if you want? The whole matching IR thing confuses me a bit.

love the v30. any chance of sharing the DI so i can try to aim for that sick tone?

what preamp was used for this one? i cant seem to cpature that tight low end only with the 57!
is this a regular stock 57? or a modded one. the low end tightness is amazing
