Oh, I know it's over-the-top. But you may not be aware, I love over-the-top mids lol! I'm personally sick of the same-settings-same-sound 5150/Mesa/V30/SM57 tone. There are great ones out there and I do enjoy them in the bands I hear them in, but I enjoy the really midrangey, Marshally tones of power metal bands
It may be a bad tone, but it's refreshing to my ears. Mind you, I gotta listen to the examples again, I was just listening for a favored tonality in the speakers.
EDIT: Listening again, I find the tone to fit the setting, certainly. If the bass wasn't as mid-heavy and the guitar tracks were a couple dB further back it would sit even better, IMO. But the guitars do have that sorta "over a telephone" midrange in them, especially in the V30 clips. I'd lower the mids a tad bit and introduce some more lows into the tone if I were using it in a proper recording.
