I am pleased to announce a few more details-- The Rocket Scientists with special guest Lana Lane will be playing on Friday of the festival. Lana Lane is a Bay Area native, and with her husband Erik Norlander, they will bring their unique blend of progressive and symphonic rock in their first Bay Area appearance since their recent move back to Northern California--

The venue will be the Independent again for this year for June 27th and 28th. On sale date for tickets is tentatively set for May 10th. We will have festival tickets this year like last year, with single-day tickets available in June if there are any remaining.

Now --for the headliner for Friday-- This will be a major treat -- A former singer who has sang for one of the major melodic rock bands, plus sang for one of the greatest guitar gods on the planet. He will be playing with a few friends including a guitar player/singer of another great Bay Area band.

Headliner details and additional details will be announced in the middle of next week.

My brain isn't functioning for guessing the headliner, but the Rocket Scientists and especially Lana Lane is very cool. I've really liked her solo stuff.

I'm gonna guess Jeff Scott Soto. Never heard of the Rocket Scientists, but looking forward to it either way, always wanted to see Lana Lane live.

VERY COOL.... AND THE 10TH FOR A ON SALE DATE WORKS PERFECT FOR ME.
I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE FINISHED LINE UP:headbang: THANKX FOR THE UPDATE

Well i am pleased with the Rocket Scientists announcement, actually just discovered them about two weeks ago. Was planning on picking up their lastest disc soon. Now i have an even better reason to order it. Here's the video that got me interested.....

Also Lana Lane will be a treat. I'm not too familiar with her, but have heard a song here and there and have always enjoyed what i've heard.

As for the venue......:zombie: Many tickets lost there. It's too bad it has to be 21+ again. I had at least 3 people between ages 18-20 that were getting ready to make the trip. I'm sure this news will disappoint many. But at least i can get in.....:heh:

And finally , as for the headliner. I think i'll wait for the announcement to start my thoughts on that. Although JSS seems like a pretty safe bet. JSS is a great singer, but i can't really see myself getting excited over this announcement.

.

Same here, I knew a few people willing to make the trip as well regardless of lineup. Except I'm one of them...

This was brought up over at MikePortnoy.com, but I don't think BARfest will see it there, so I'm going to ask here...

Is there ANY possibility that tix for for this event might be available at the ProgNation show next Sat night? Give a leg up to your supporters who are going to that show?

It would be a great idea; if it could be arranged...:worship:

Very cool for the update and teaser David!

Curious to hear who the Friday headliner is, guess I'll have to wait until later this week...

Good news on the Rocket Scientists. They put on a great set at CalProg last year and the addition of a new singer for the more heavy songs on their last studio release Revolution Road came off nice. The brainchild of virtuoso keyboardist Erik Norlander, Mark McCrite (guitar, vocals), and Don Schiff (NS/Chapman Stick), will be a nice addition to the prog side of the lineup.

Being that the tickets are not on sale until after that show , I don't see how it could be done. That and its not really a great idea to sell tickets to another event at a prior event. You can give out info, flyers and the such but selling tickets is a no no.

WELL SAID, BROTHER BEAR:headbang:

Well, it was Brooks' idea, sounded good to me, but I'm not a concert promoter either.

As long as I get a ticket, no one will have to die.:heh:
