Volume 8 - The Threat Is Real

well think of it this way if you have a burned copy of the cd as opposed to the album then you don't get the kick ass poster thing. As far as I'm concerned I think its ok to burn a copy and give it to someone. it's bullshit to sell it to someone. but then agian I'm the type of person that would rather have the album with fold outs and production notes and lyrics. so if I get a burned copy in my paws and I like it I will buy the cd. it's too bad warehouse music won't let you preview the music anymore. that was realy helpful.

It is not yours to give away (the copy that is). If you want to give away the original copy in your possesion there is no law against that and I'll take all the legit vol.8 discs that you want to give away. And for you posers who want a free copy.....YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!! That is theft and besides you should be thankful for the oppurtunity to BUY the music you enjoy. That is a right that is not upheld in a lot of countries.

I'll burn every mothrfucker on here a copy if they can't find one......you, or anyone else can't stop me. if i sold them, it would ba a different story. But I'm not.

I say, if you are not making a profit, BURN it!!! BURN, BURN, BURN!!!!!

Volume 8 is hard to get, so I say BURN!!! BURN!!!

Such great music should reach as many ears as possible, to open up young minds (full of mush) to the greatness of Anthrax!

Anybody got a problem with that? SCREW YOU!

Gregthrax,
Read that and weep. That is what it says on the back of my ORIGINAL copy of "Volume 8-The Threat Is Real" by the artist Anthrax. So making any copies (whole or part), without written permission by all binding owners of this album or any legal entity acting on their behalf as recognized by a lawful court is ILLEGAL!!! So burn all the discs that you want and enjoy sucking all the dick you want because YOU are violating the laws in The United States of America! BE A TRUE FAN AND SUPPORT THIS BAND DAMMITT!!! By the way you can always buy this disc used if indeed you can't find it new... and that is perfectly legal you dick head!!
Peace!

Both of your points are factually true......
however.....
the label is a legal binding owner of VOL. 8 and have the legal right under constitutionally guarenteed laws providing copyright protection.....
and speeding is still illegal!
Thanks and try again!!

Being able to record cd to tape or radio to tape has not hurt the industry at all, in fact sales went up. Things have not changed now with Mp3's and they will not. Consider the following: Suppose a band puts out an album with one good song only. (Anthrax has never done this but.....) I see no problem in burning the song or the whole cd if I was not going to buy it anyways. No sale was lost. This is especially true of smaller bands, not necessarily so much Anthrax. What if I burn a small band's cd and listen to it and never buy the cd? I was never gonna buy it anyways if not for mp3's that exposed me to it. No lost sales here. The bottom line is if this is a good band they WILL get more popular and more money b/c of mp3's or perhas b/c of receiving burned cd's from others. I think this is true of big bands as well, to a lesser extent. If an album is great, I still buy the cd and so do most people I know. If it sucks but has a good song or two, I may burn the cd. In the old days I may have made a tape. If these were not options, I would simply not have the album and be fine with that. I do not buy things not worth buying

As for me, everything by Anthrax in my possession is legal. I wouldn´t burn Anthrax CD. But still I have tons of burned CDs of different bands, e.g. Armored Saint. It´s because CDs are way too expensive for me and I couldn´t afford spending so much money from my student/part time teacher´s wage on CDs, but still I want to listen to new music, and that´s why I burn the CDs, but if anything is worth spending cash on it I´ll do it. Peace.

Hey you can justify it any way you want but it is still illegal and it is still theft. it is your concious. I like knowing that I support the bands I listen to and I sleep very well at night. This is my last post on this subject. Thanks for the lively debate.

It is NOT illegal for you to make backups of CD's that you own.
So here's what's up. Mikethax is 'borrowing' gregthrax's copy of Vol.8. He is allowed to borrow it for 157 years if he wants. THAT is LEGAL!

BTW- since it is almost impossible to buy a copy of that CD, Anthrax isn't losing money. And another thing, I'm sure Anthrax is on Greg's side....and Metal88's side too.
Re-read Metal88's post. He makes the most since.
This is what sites like NAPSTER were made for. Why should I buy anyone's CD if I don't know what I'm in for.

CD-R's and Napster were made for "test driving" music. If you don't like it, you're not gonna buy it, and there is no loss of a sale, like Metal88 said.

I JUST realized SOMETHING.

The reason Metallica sued Napster is because the song "I Dissapear" is the worst piece of shit song they've ever recorded.
Metallica wanted people to buy the MI:2 soundtrack (where this horrible song is available) before people could hear that song so that it would be too late, and Metallica could get their royalties.
Metallica wanted to make money from that shitty-ass song, but if people checked it out on Napster, no one would buy the soundtrack.

Napster was made for checking out music.
Sharing is still not a crime!!!!!!!

Yeah, we're all supposed to buy the MI:2 soundtrack. It also had that Limp Dick song that I think was supposed to be the MI theme but sucked beyond recognition.

I've bought every Anthrax CD and I don't have a burner. However, tomorrow I will be making tape copies of my Anthrax shit for my truck because I think it's stupid to buy the same thing over and over. I don't have a CD player in my truck yet because I have this annoying habit of feeding, clothing and diapering my son, and even then I'd probably still either burn CDs or make tapes because I don't like the idea of leaving my Anthrax shit in my truck because of how difficult it would be to replace it should something happen. I'm sure I will burn in hell for my horrible offense. Frank and John will probably kick my door in and wreck all my shit too, being so full of rage about the injustice I've done. Please. Why is everyone so uptight? If you don't believe in copying shit, don't do it.

Oh and may I also remind everyone that the only people who profit from the sales of used CDs are the used CD stores that sell them to you?? Not the band, not the label. It's what sparked the rumors that Garth Brooks goes to used CD stores in every city he's in and buys all the used ones up so you have to buy new ones. Now, if it's perfectly legal to put money into the pocket of a used CD store owner, what is so bad about borrowing it from a friend?? Again, if you're that offended by it, don't do it.

I have no problem with making backups or loaning, but people were talking about making copies for people to keep. I think that is wrong, and, oh yeah, it is. Anything that lies within "fair use" (i.e. making backup copies, letting someone borrow your CD to check it out, etc) are fine and legal, but copying for people so they don't have to get off their lazy, cheap asses and buy the CD is wrong. I think that should clarify my point sufficiently. I now exit the discussion.

I've bought all the Anthrax CD's, but wanted to expose a friend to how great they have become since John joined, so I made up a mix CD composed of entirely Bush-era Anthrax tunes, but I haven't specifically copied any one CD.

I've burned an entire CD of Anthrax songs for myself that I downloaded, all B-sides that I could not find anywhere else.

I've also burned a CD of every single studio Anthrax tune that has ever existed, in MP3 format, so I can listen to it on my CD-MP3 player, and have access to every single tune conveniantly located in my pocket at all times, all of which I already own the original CD (except for the above mentioned b-sides).

Are any or all of these legal? Do I care? Funny, I haven't lost a single wink of sleep.

But then again, I'm Canadian. We have all those lax security laws, so our legal system probably doesn't even care. But then again, my two cents are only worth 1.2 US cents, so take that for what it's worth.

And to the guy that says Vol.8 sucks...which Vol.8 were you listening to, man? Perhaps the only album IN EXISTENCE that comes close to it is Sound of White Noise.

But then again, that's just my two cents, which I've already said probably isn't worth that much.

Except now I've given my two cents twice, which actually makes four cents, so even though it's Canadian money, I've still put in 2.4 cents US, which is more than the two cents that I had originally intended on contributing. Who says Canadians don't contribute to the US economy?

Okay, I'll shut up now.
