Volume 8 - The Threat Is Real

Hey Everyone,
I don't have a problem with people copying their own cd's for purely personal purposes. I (and I think Jimbo and Cincy will agree with me on this) am very much against the wholesale freeloading of music by people who are too cheap to support bands they like. They claim they can't afford the disc's. To this I say bullshit. I have a buddy who owns 2 bmw's, a mazda rx-7, two other nice cars and a beautiful house and he is constantly pilfering stuff off of other people to burn so he doesn't have to buy the disc's. He is at best a quasi-fan.... and I disagree with his attitude towards this wholeheartedly. Most people could make some sacrifices and be able to afford the disc they want. The peple who scream the loudest are usually the guilty ones.... thats right GUILTY!! You are guilty of theft and find tons of amusing ways to justify it but it is still theft!! You are nothing more than a bunch of collectivist commi-pinko-liberal bedwetters. So To all those that qualify as a commi-pinko-liberal bedwetter I say piss off. And to all of those who go to all the concerts, buy the t-shirts from legit vendors, search out legal venues to purchase cd's I will defend you to the hilt! True fans like me!!
Peace!
Rich Hasty

To those of you who don't understand business.....
If you go out of business you may sell your assets.. or you can hang on to them .... which means.... Somebody owns the DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS!! Now whether or not they choose to act is up to them... my point was that maybe, just maybe, they might look at boards like this and realize that their is a market for bands like Anthrax.

I JUST realized SOMETHING.

The reason Metallica sued Napster is because the song "I Dissapear" is the worst piece of shit song they've ever recorded.
Metallica wanted people to buy the MI:2 soundtrack (where this horrible song is available) before people could hear that song so that it would be too late, and Metallica could get their royalties.
Metallica wanted to make money from that shitty-ass song, but if people checked it out on Napster, no one would buy the soundtrack.

Napster was made for checking out music.
Sharing is still not a crime!!!!!!!
Well, first of all the mi2 soundtrack didn't sell badly even with all the downloads so your argument there is void.

I find it funny that what you call 'sharing', us in the real word call theft, and yes theft is a crime.

Sorry this got so long. I was trying to stay out of this thread but had to give my opinion. I just have one question. Say an Album is out of print and no matter how hard you look, and search, and try to order it, only to have it back ordered and never come, and then you know someone who has a copy, and that will copy it for you so you have a copy, is that bad? I mean come on when you are a fan of the music, you are gonna buy all the album regardless. I had a copy of I'm the man for 13 years before I finally found it. I lived in Winona, which is a small town of 25,000 in Minnesota growing up, and for the life of me I could not find it. (This was back before computers) Anyways I went to Boston in 2001 and was in a record store and there it was. Now I am sure if I had tried harder before I would have found it, but I did not have the resources. Now that I do, I am buying everything I can. Some of that stuff is used, like some of the older Video's, and the band is not making any money off of it so what difference does it make if it is used or copied. Are those video's still in print? If they are tell me where because I will buy them. I would rather have them new, then used. I guess my point is, there are times whenYou have know choice to burn. If the album is readily available, and you are a true fan you will buy it regardless. I know this thread is about theft, and yes burning is stealing. But if it is not out there why should we be punished. If I know someone with the album, I am gonna get a copy. If I can buy it, new that it is, I will otherwise I will be hapy with my burned copy, because if I buy it used, like I said before, the band is not getting any money. O.k. I think I am done.

I borrowed my friend's car once, I guess LORD_GALVATRON would call that Grand Theft Auto.
