I couldn't find a thread about WASP so now I made one!

How do you people like them? How updated are you on their current shitz? Thing is, they're doung the Crimson Idol tour now, meaning they play a big set with that album straight through first and then take a break before coming back on for Fuck like a beast, I wanna be somebody and all of that. Fucking win since the Crimson Idol is easily their best album (I should know, it's the only one I have) and it's fucking EXCELLENT. If there's one wasp tour I don't wanna miss, this is it. So we're going to Östersund tomorrow, got tix for the (sold out) gig this morning yay!

Röckenråll rövhölez!

/Hell Mike (and a bit Johanna who actually got us the tix and fixed a place to sleep and all of that)

Liked their latest album a LOT, actually it might be my third favourite WASP album after "The Crimson Idol" and "The Headless Children" (it is very close to the style of that one too). Huge pleasant suprise. And "Sleeping (In The Fire)" is the best song evar (etc) !!@!!!!!!

I do agree that their best two are Crimson Idol and Headless Children, the latter being my #1. I can't get to their website through my firewall, will this WASP tour come to the states?

That was awesome.
One of the best gigs I've ever been to, I command you all to get the dvd of this once it's out. This is storytelling in a grand scale, you should know the general outlines of the tale already, and who's better at telling it than an old, fat and tired rockstar? Blackie and the band were completely awesome all through the Crimson Idol, that's just the way it's supposed to be experienced. The video footage played behind the band was obviously made just for this (no idea when though - 15 weeks or 15 years ago, could be either)and fit into everything so damn well. The venue was great, there was a big balcony for the non-frontrowers, you could see the whole gig from the bar if you wished etc. If you ask me, skipping the old gold at the end of the set wouldn't have taken away from the gig at all. The first part felt like it was what Blackie wanted to do (and has wanted for 15 years) while the hit songs were just because he had to to please the fans or something, and that showed. Sure, they still did it well (and the band other than Blackie very well) but you could tell they considered themselves done as the Crimson Idol closed. The songs on the encore were: Blind in Texas, L.O.V.E Machine, Wild Child and Take Me Up.

Long live the king of mercy!

Several dates have been leaked as part of the U.S. leg of W.A.S.P.'s "The Crimson Idol Tour". They are as follows:

Feb. 15 - Jaxx - Springfield, VA
Feb. 16 - Jaxx - Springfield, VA
Feb. 22 - Starland Ballroom - Sayreville, NJ
Feb. 24 - The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza @ New York, NY
Feb. 23 - The Chance - Poughkeepsie, NY

More shows will be announced soon.

W.A.S.P. kicked off its "The Crimson Idol Tour" on October 26 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The band is performing the 1992 album in its entirety while never-before-seen video footage is being shown throughout the show. After a short break the group returns for another a 30-minute set of W.A.S.P. classics.

never seen WASP live ... I want to check this out

The last time I saw WASP was when they opened for Kiss on the Asylum tour. I need to make this show if at all possible! I have been a fan of theirs since the debut and, for the most part, have loved everything they have done.
What do you think about The Crimson Idol?

On another note, we've been listening to the Headless Children a lote lately too to be able to decide if it's better than the Idol, and the conclusion is that it is most certainly not. Very good, especially towards the end, but not in the same league as the Idol. Then again, I'm weak to (good) concept albums. The Crimson Idol could as well be a great movie or book, but in neither format would it be as good as just this. The live DVD might edge the CD out though.

holy jesus do i need to go to that tour!

I saw them back in 2005 on their pre-Neon God tour. Very fucking good stuff, even if they didn't play any of their absolute top spots (Heretic, Chainsaw Charlie, Hellion, Thunderhead); the surprise winner was Kill Your Pretty Face which had some downright eerie stage antics. A lot of the songs from Kill Fuck Die are seriously underrated and sound great live with less industrial effects.

But, Idol/Children are by far their best albums and two of the best Heavy Fucking Metal albums ever recorded. Great, great underrated band and aging surprisingly well considering what you'd expect. Need to check out new one I guess!
