I wish you guys would go see them, and then make your judgement about them. I guarantee you have never seen a live performance like this.

There website is stale and dying. Myspace is killing band website. Not a bad thing, I guess.

If you go, you need to take pictures. I'd also think about sucking your balls if you filmed Watchmaker. Brian Livoti keeps promising me a live DVD, but it hasn't happened yet.

What you should be checking out, is Nile, Decapitated & Hypocrisy with me on Monday night.

next monday? ... i might go to that too ... Decapitated and Hypocrisy rule ... and during Nile I would just harass the tubby continual one

btw Nate ... didn't you just mention like 10 hours ago that they don't tour and have internal band conflicts ... or was that the equivalent of "i am washing my hair tonight" metal style?

They don't travel often, and I think the drummer for Anal Cunt, or something like that, is filling in for them in NYC. Certain members won't go out of town. They all have jobs and kids. The band pretty much is just for fun. Brian Livoti sounded pretty excited about this NYC thing, but he has mentioned it's very hard to get other members to commit to shows where they travel.

He's currently dealing with his anger/confusion over Watchmaker getting amazing reviews of their last one (Erased from the Memory of Man).

They have a split coming out someday that will absolutely blow everybody away. I'm one of two people, other than the band, that has the Watchmaker material from the split. If you think Watchmaker is insane now, this split will be so over the top Watchmaker will become a novelty band like Sunn 0))) and Khanate have.

When Watchmaker first started, NOBODY would give them a record deal and they couldn't get ANY gigs that actually paid money. They supported bands that hadn't even written any songs yet. Reviews of their first one were either really good (about 5 of us thought that) or really bad (the other 400 reviewers were on this side).

Now Watchmaker could probably jump to a label like Relapse, although they won't do it because they don't tour (at least that's my guess), they have played gigs with Akercocke, Suffocation, Sabbat, and a bunch of other bigger names, and nearly everybody claims to be "into" Watchmaker.

He liked it better when they were hated.

He told me about one time when they were playing live on the radio. There was a big window in the radio studio where people could watch, and there were speakers outside. There ended up being one guy watching, and he was a drunk homeless guy. The band ended up giving him a bunch of shirts and whatever money and alcohol they could put together on the spot.

Anyway . . . if you go to that show, tell Brian Livoti (the singer) I referred you. He might become your best friend. He's very friendly, and he LOVES to talk 80's thrash/metal. He's always telling me about frickin Accept of Manowar or some band like that. I'm like, have you heard Gojira?

will try to see them ... I am not a big fan of their music ... and they seem a little forced as far as trying to be over the top on purpose ... my take on it.
but I like to see something different, and live they look intense, from the pics on the website at least.

EDIT: look for Livoti and lurch pics in my livingroom next weekend :loco:

Cool.

you know what's funny about a band like Watchmaker, and even funnier that the guy is pissed about being popular ... is really that they sound like ... well ... a band that could easily be the soundtrack to Viva La Bam for example ... I mean ... there is nothing offensive to them, and they come across rather comical.

so I am not sure where the singer is going with his stuff ... but it's really music tho throw shit around to more than anything else. and this tyle of music is kind of around nowadays, so of course reviewers will kiss their ass.
