Watershed SE - bonus tracks

I think it's because of album is very solid and they don't want it to be followed by some other songs. Like "Hex Omega" is the end and nothing after it.

But man... if I want to listen to the isolaten album, I'll buy regular edition. Well, I understand 'em, but it's still a crappy idea.
I actually was not very satisfied with the ending to the album. felt like it came too fast cause most opeth albums have a certain way to end it, like morningrise and ghost reveries and still life have perfect endings.

Could anyone tell me whats the difference in the booklets from the regular and special edition?

I think I saw on here that the regualr booklet has some pics of the band, and the special edition doesn't and has more artwork. Honestly I think this would decide my decision on which version to buy, because I REALLY want to have a regular cd case to put my cd in, and the special edition only has the slipcases and they can get torn and you dont wanna wag that stuff around. A cd case you can take it wherever.

It just sucks cuz if i buy the regualr, then I'll miss out on the DVD, but honestly, none of the bonus tracks seem to tickle my fancy, and I doubt Opeth are much of a behind the scenes wow-er band...

And also one more thing, the 5.1 version of the cd, I honestly want it because I think some of the regular tracks are kinda low quality, especially heir appearant, and I'm hoping they would sound better on that, but for anyone who has it, do the songs actually sound any better on just a cd player/car stereo? Or do you have to have a big fancy surround sound system for it to make any difference?

Don't forget Blackwater Park's ending. Probably the best out of the ones you mentioned, although they all are great.

As for the SE not having the bonus tracks on the Cd, I'm sort of pissed. However, I think I'll still pick up the SE.

Why do you need to carry it around man, my cds never leave my house, never get lent out. If I want to listen to something elsewhere, I rip to mp3 or burn. Easy....
Why miss out on having the full package for a stupid jewel case (which looks boring like every other cd you own)?

I got SE edition today, what an album! but where is would?... and anyone got a link to a decent audio ripper for DVD's or is that illegal?

The bonus tracks are amazing, especially Derelict Herds (wow! what a song!). Bridge Of Sighs is so bluesy I love it. The Marie Fredrickson cover is simply beautiful. Oh and Mellotron Heart is awesome, Mikes vocals are really special on that one.

Uhh...Please share??:Saint:

It's way easy and didn't involve any illegal rippers.

I just played the DVD with VLC Media player and recorded the songs (while they were playing) using Wave Studio that came with my Creative Sound Card. Then I split the audio into 3 tracks and converted them from .wav to .mp3 and .flac. Voila. Quick, easy, legal.

There's a useful program called Audio HiJack that you can use to record the audio output of any other program (without picking up noise from other programs). I think you have to pay for it but you can get a trial version. Failing that, Quicktime Pro could save a movie file as a .wav file. A program called Handbrake will come in handy first.
