i don't really get the outright hate for breakdowns. really, they're just a bridge. when they are good, they can be very good and definitely add to the song as a whole. and when they are bad, they can ruin a song entirely. just like any other bad part of a song can.

my only problems with them are A) like Mick says, forced into every single song even if they destroy the flow, or B) when it's just plain bad song writing, like what Dylan is saying. boring stuff that has been done a billion times over.
