WCFYA Vital Stats

I was lamenting the fact the other day that my local cd store has over 30 copies of the new Metallica and hasn't yet had 1 copy of the new Anthrax. Shit, I'm listening to "Pac-Man Fever" right now and it's 10 times better than anything on that new Metallica!

metal sludge have a soundscan update, there have been a lot less of them lately but they should update soon,i am keen to know if the album has sustained a small but steady growth!

I tried to look it up at the Billboard site , but you have to be a member to see the stats!!

There's nothing to see unfortunately. It was on Billboard the 1st week only and then fell off the top 200.
Approximate U.S. weekly sales in order have been 10,000 / 3,000 / 1,000/ 500 / under 500 after that......less than 16,000 in the U.S. in over a month of release.
St. Anger has sold 780,511 in the U.S. in a week and a half. That's about 70,000 per day, or 16,000 about every 5 hours on average.

Great albums sometimes equal poor sales, bad albums sometimes equal great sales. It's just the nature of business. McDonalds hamburgers barely taste like anything resembling beef but they sell tons of them anyway.

These sales figures suck!!!

What a shame, that such a great album is not being received better! Hell I would have been happy with 200,000 albums sold...now I hope it makes 100,000. This is gay!

And St. Anger sells 700,000+?

Just remember, my eclectic friends, "The masses are the asses!"

I cannot beleive with all the hype and buzz on this album that it is not doing better. Hopefully it will pick-up after some exposure from the vid. To bad the band is over sea's right now. They should be touring the homeland all summer to keep all the buzz going.

Are these figures for sales in the US??

Scott keeps harping about how they're doing big things in Europe, so surely the record is doing some decent numbers over there????

I can't believe these sales totals are true, after all the great reviews that I've seen. Just about everone is giving WCFYA 5 stars on Amazon.com, while St Anger is only gettng 3 and a half stars, the shittiest rating that any Metallica album has. I hope Anthrax tours soon with some popular metal bands, just to get some exposure, people will definitely love them.

its probably done 100 thousand worldwide, they do have a hardcore fanbase even if its only small its enough to ensure there survival!

u gotta remember that having the album released overseas first isnt exactly the best hing to do these days, they prob lost 30 percent to downloads at least

u have also got to remember that sanctuary is yet to break a band!

Yeah, that 9 800-ish figure that came thru a while ago must surely have been only for a couple of days after its release.

I know this sounds cliche, but they do sell better in Europe. They were outselling Slayer in France. They're huge in Antartica. I never gave a fuck about sales for any band I ever liked, means nothing about the music. Without decent video exposure, a single on the radio or on a big movie soundtrack, not enough people will seek out the new Anthrax to make it a gold or platinum record. I just hope it sells enough to sustain everything.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the album at first (I still miss the Spreading The Disease, Among The Living days). But having listened to it a lot recently and seeing them play the stuff live on tour with Motorhead I've really come to like it a lot. It deserves to sell a hell of a lot more than it has been doing.

well whenever I go to the record stores here they always have like Among the Living at least. SO i figure even if Joe Schmoe 14-18 year old sees the new video or hears the single on the radio or even sees them at a SOAD show they're not gonna know shit about ANthrax or how long they've been around. Then they're gonna go to the record store and have only Among the Living to buy. They buy it not knowing John Bush is not the vocalist. They'll listen to it and as soon as Joey kicks in they're gonna think it's silly. No offense to old Anthrax but Thats what kids think today. In America it's not popular to "sing like a woman". Shit thats what I thought when I first heard Rush and Dream Theater when I was like 7. "who's this woman singing?" but anyway....
