Wgich tubes should I get for my Rockmaster?

I'm thinking of switching the JJ's in my Rockmaster out and experimenting with something else. I'm leaning towards Tung Sols, but do you guys got any recommendations? I'm aiming for a bit more modern and thicker tone

I've compared 3 EH ECC83 with 3 JJ ECC803 (yeah 803, the "0" is not a typo) on a guitar preamp, some time ago, and the only difference was that the EH had about 0,5db more volume, but frequency-wise they were 99,9% identical...

I'd like to do a shoot-out, too, but I'm afraid it's useless since I think some of the current tubes are busted :/ The Ultra and Crunch channels are so quiet I have to run the Rockmaster's line out to my Profire's instrument input, while the clean channel puts out a normal signal that works well with line inputs.

I have some JJ's I want to try in my Rockmaster Preamp. But not being an electronics guru I don't know whether V1 or V4 is the power inverter.
Help?

I had one with tungsol in v1 then jj in v2 - v3 and sovtek LPS in v4. Sounded killer but mine was FJA modded so i dont know if it will sound as good in a stock one.

Doesn't either V1 or V4 have to be a balance tube though? I have three JJ's I want to try, but don't know what positions to put them in.

when looking at the rockmaster from the front, the v4 tube is the one farthest to the right. Just to make sure do buy it balanced.
