What are some of the best black metal bands from France?

I'm no expert on the genre, but recently I've heard Belef's latest and thought it sort of sucked from songwriting to performance to cover art. Today, I checked out the new album from Merrimack, and honestly, it felt a bit too monolithic and uneventful for me.

So what are some of the best black metal bands from France or is black metal simply not this country's forte?

I really like Gojira... From Mars is a cool disc, but I am looking for black metal.

There are lots of other esteemed bands that I can't speak for. France is generally a very good country for BM

deathspell omega's last two albums are very solid. they are certainly one of the better newer bm bands around.
