hello,i want to buy a audio interface to record vocals, guitars and bass with my band,to send the channels at studio for mix (home record)
budget is tight,200-250€ max and i haven't a firewire port.
our music style is metalcore-melodic death metal.
i'm thinking to buy focusrite 2i4 usb,is this the best at this range of monay?
can you suggest me a audio interface for my purpose?
thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english

there are some reported clipping problems with some Focusrite interfaces when high-output pickups are being used to record DI.

how about an Onyx Blackjack by Mackie?

it's pretty no-nonsense, meaning it can do pretty much what you're asking but doesn't have midi capabilities or such, but it does have Onyx preamps on it and it's pretty cheap. the metal construction also makes it durable if you were ever to use it for mobile recording. if i was buying my first interface now, i'd buy that one.

the new 2i4 is finally a good focusrite-interface! it has the pad-switch which most other focusrite-interfaces needs! go for it!

cheers!

Line 6 pod ux 1 or 2 also do the job well. I use ux2 to record on my laptop and haven't had any problems since i got a new laptop.(switched to mac from a buggy windows pc)
