Since people are speaking jews and Hitler here, I must say, that jews were "on danger" in many countries after the first world war. There was some movement against them in many countries, including Russia and even in England, but it all exploided in Germany. The cleasing in Germany didn't actually even start from jews, but retarded, sick and old German people, that was consered as wasting money and energy. These euthanasia-factorys started with them and later turned to exhume the jews. Hitler thought that jews were trying to make 2nd WW to start, so they could climp up and become in leading position and he said that there sure will be a WWII, but it will not lead jews to higher positions, but a total destruction of jews in Europe.
Oh, I've been reading this 3rd reich-book I bought. It's totally independent, so it's very good to read and get some actual facts without these "we think it went this way" stories.
Oh, by the way, younger Hitler was trying to make a courier as an artist/painter and was turned away from the academy, by a....yeah, a jew.
And I'm Finnish and all my granparents have been as long as I've found any information (5 generations).

I too have read Hitler on personal orders had his fathers graveyard tunred into one of the german armies target ranges. Of course, although his father who was a bastard, and possibly half jewish on his mother's side, it is also possible Hitler shelled his father as his father beat him, and was psychologically abusive as well.
Still, as much as Europe hated the jews, systematically killing them like cattle is about the sickest thing one could do, at least send them to die in the mines of siberia or something- give them a little shred of dignity. And the story of the jews in Europe is quite intersting I must say. I was reading a history of the Rothschild's by Niall Ferguson- they pretty much funded every war from the late 18th to 19th century, and with the economic power they accumulated, they were able to dictate what wars could be fought. Possibly these jewish bankers presented a large problem to the murderous expansoinary interests of EUrope?

Something that's hammered into us attending the history course I personally doubt that he started the 2nd WW because he wanted to do it before the jews could, that might have been the reason given to justify it but hardly the real reason for him. I personally think it was an attempt to restore Germany's glory and unify all of german blood in one great empire, while exterminating all the jews at the same time while using the war as a cover.
I sometimes wonder why he didn't use all the jewish people as slave labour during the war and perhaps win it because of that, and then kill them all off when he was lord over Europe
Yeah, I guess we never know why all this happened, but the main reason was the loss of German glory with the WWI, as you already mentioned. Hitler was just there in the right time and make himself the leader of new Germany.

Why they were persecuted- and why the monarchs fanned the flames of persecution that conditioned the European people not to give a damn anymore. Hatred of jews for banking is a long storied history in Europe, and one that I believe is of utmost importance.
Im still surprised how much all of Europe hates the Jewish people, you know I was in St Petersburg, and I was on the English speaking tour with my brother, there were a group of New Jersey Jews with their stars of david necklaces etc, and I have never seen a group of people treated so poorly in my life. I live in NJ amongst the hacidics. They are actually much more bearable than the loud yentas yearning for Floridian retirement and Starbucks breakfasts.
