What headphones to get?

I've got some Beyer DT770s the 250ohm ones. Their stereo-imaging is amazing for the price. I've heard people say they are too bright, but i think they aren't listening right. The highs are so detailed and they're amazing for inspecting formant diction in vocals. If you are stuck in a poor room or the people you are working with just plain wont shut up; these are invaluable.

Sounds like what i want.
Il probably order them tomorrow.. got them recomended by other people as well, so they seem to be the way to go! :)

Most of which aren't as convenient for AE's tbh as the M50's, as they don't really focus on flatiness (even though the M50's have somewhat of a small bass hump) but more on musicality and detail. Depends if you wanna use them for EQing and general mixing or fixing stuff in space (panning) IMO.

What do you mean by small bass hump? Cut or boost? Because when I first got my M50's I noticed there seemed a bit of a hole in the bass range, what I did was I left it on my desk playing 4 hours worth of music at a fairly good volume, after that initial burn-in the bass range opened up a lot, its almost perfect now.

For what I heard it was a very small bass boost after burn-in. Though the material I heard in the store was some CDs I wasn't acquainted with (I wasn't really big on Opeth at the time, but that's what they had to demo for metal and I became a fan of them afterwards) : maybe I wasn't used to that mix enough to tell.

:/

While I haven't tried every pair of headphones listed so far, I have been using the Sennheiser HD 650 cans for about two years and it's really hard to listen to stuff through anything else at this point.

I was torn between the HD650's and the DT 770's then and went with the HD650's - wonder if it is time for a fresh listen/comparison!

what Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO to get 250Ohm, 80 Ohms or what? (output impedance on my presonus firestudio haedphone output is 60 Ohm)
what difference with DT 770 M ?

and what about IEM( In-Ear monitor) canalphones extend into the ear canal (NOT! earbuds) like etymotic, ultimate ears etc. ?

You should NEVER use things that you have to put inside your ears.. whether its q-tips, earplugs or In-Ear monitors.
Ive had a ear infection for the past 2 years or so that the doctors cant do shit about.. and it has been linked to that i used earplugs on a daily basis.

Not only that, but In-Ear stuff is much more likely to cause hearing damage.

I've been mixing all my songs on Sony 7509HDs. I haven't used monitors since who knows how long. It's making my clients happy, lol.

I'd give em a shot if you have the chance.

Do you have any speakers hooked up so you can preview material to a band sitting in your control room?

My boss gave me the AKG k240's as a Christmas present! ;)

And i did not find them lacking low end.. but they are pretty bright sounding, but in a good way.
REALLY good separation in the 5khz-20khz area, and the frequencies below that are pretty tight too.

So i accidentally rolled over the cable and destroyed my K240's and need some new ones.
I have 1500SEK / 182EUR to spend and i want something with better bass response/fuller sounding then the K240's and have absolutely no idea what to look at.

It yanked the socket straight out of the headphones.. anyways, bought a budget alternative: Shure SRH440

They are abit harsh in the high mids(~3-5khz), but they sound sooo clean and crisp.. perfect for detailworking. :)

Im not going to do any tracking though(In a LOOOOOONG time.), i mostly work with EDM at the moment.
And if im going to track i have some shitty old ones that.. well.. they produce some sounds at least.

They fit my head pretty well, but yeah, i can't really say that they are the most comfortable headphones i've owned.. will definitely try that mod out. :)
