What is Grindcore?

Is it so obvious?? To someone who has little or no knowledge of grindcore, what is so implausible here exactly??? Considering no-one who has offered a definition of grindcore has proven that definition by reference to actual bands and the music/lyrics they write, I find it hard to believe why anyone should be so rudely dismissed.

So why don't you give us all a history of grindcore's musical evolution from its true ancestors making reference to the relevant bands yourself??? Until you do, why don't you just shut the fuck up and stop trying to show-off your uselessness to this thread.

can anyone do this? i think it would definatly clear it up. someone has to eventually do it. someone who listens to alot of grind, sit down and do it :Spin:

Grind came before death metal and is simply very extreme punk.

I don't consider most of these new 'grind' bands as proper grindcore - more noise/death

listen to Assuck, early Extreme Noise Terror and Napalm Death for hints.

ive never really been able to describe what grind really is, i guess something just clicks in my brain and says to me "this is grind" or "this is melodic death metal" when i hear them, i dont really go by other peoples' opinions on what band belongs in what genre

Yep, the only thing he's right about is general punk ideology.

Grind developed parallel to death, not as a result of death. Grind perhaps actually predated death metal. "Horrified" by Repulsion was a true grind album including all the features of grind which I described in an earlier post. It was released in 1986, a time when only Possessed had released anything resembling actual death metal.

I've always thought of grindcore(at least early grind) as basically punk riffs played with metal aggression at death or thrash metal speed. Which is why the songs are so short:p

If anyone wants to call me an idiotic douchebag, you may say so..................Now.
