James, how do you like the central station? I've been using it for a while now..but I've always thought the aux input sounded weird to me. I use it for referencing cd's...and I always thought it sounded better when i just loaded the song into pro tools on a track. and clients don't usually like the click noise when you hit the talkback..haha

UREI 809, Yamaha HS80M, and one Auratone Cube

I'm looking for a system with a seperate sub, any suggestions?

is it just me or do monitors not even matter that much? im so hardened to listening to my normal speakers for so many years i know exactly what a cd should sound like on em, i really only use my monitors sometimes for comparison against other speakers

Completely untrue. Monitors are your "ears" while mixing and tracking and getting sounds. If your "ears" hear everything with a hyped low end, or hyped high end, or vice versa, your mixes will not translate well or can have hundreds of other problems.

A lot of people consider monitors to be one of the top priorities equipment wise.

But of course, it's also how well you KNOW your monitors.

agreed, my mixes improved five fold when i got real monitors

if you have a "medium" sized room (about 22' x 18').....would it be better to have 2 monitors with medium-sized drivers (5-6.5") and a subwoofer? Or would 2 monitors with larger driver (6.5"+) and a subwoofer be overkill??:goggly:

Gus, XeS.... so far i'm really liking the HS50M Yamahas... they aren't an exact replacement for the NS10M (though Yamaha themselves imply they are) but you can get a similar use out of them if you understand the differences.

Grave.... i like the Central Station.. works great and the "clicking" sound shouldn't be a problem if you turn down the Mic Level control in the Talkback section of the Remote.... the Mic is right by the TB button, so if you juice the little talkback Mic you'll certainly get a more noticable "click".

Overall the CS's performance is great and while there are arguably "better" systems out there this is the only one worth looking at for under $1000. up from there the Dangerous ST and Crane Song Avocet are quite nice, as are the various Grace systems, but for my money (and significantly less of it) the CS with Remote competes well with all of them on a feature by fearture basis... at least until you need 5.1 monitor control that is, which the CS does not offer.

I just pulled the trigger on a pair of PMC TB2S+, but I can't afford a decent amp for a few months, it's gonna hurt looking at them all... silent. I guess I could run them off my cyrus hifi amp maybe

mr.murphy, i have the same desk as you...

that's pretty much where the similarities end lol

but seriously i'm looking at upgrading myself. looking at the genelec 8040 (8050 out my price range) old hr824, jbl lsr, adam, d.a. bm6a mkII....

i'd also like to get a pair of ns10s if i can good deal as reference.

anyone have any suggestions? other than go and sit and listen yourself. it's hard to find all these. i've heard the hr824s they sound good to me but there is an urban legend that they are too basssy hence innacurate unless you are doing like hip hop or house music not rock/metal

WHOOOOOOOOO:)
THAT IS A LOVELY DESK:)
I USE YANAHA HS80 FOR NOW COUS THERE IS LACK OF FINANCES:P
IN THE FUTURE I WOULD LOVE TO GET MY HEANDS ON SOME GENELEC'S OR SOME COOL DYNAUDIO'S:rock:
