As much as I hate to say it, I am not impressed with Circus Maximus at all. It sounds like they have been listening to WAY too many power ballads in between discs. There are only a couple of rocking somgs on the whole disc. As far as the Flower Kings go, I was never a HUGE fan of theirs, but I don't think that fans will be disappointed, and the Squire / Hackett is kinda hit and miss with me, there is some that is really good, and some that is rather mediocre. Still not bad overall though...I think that I just expected a bit more from them. One of the others that I really like is Headspace...but I have been hearing it for quite a while now.

It's funny Jim, that is what everyone is saying about this. I think that Squire is not feeling very "proggy" these days.

I don't understand all the mediocre comments about the Circus Maximus. I like the aor element in their music because they blend it so well with the prog elements. For me, this is the best disc so far this year. Heavy when it needs to be, great hooks, great guitar playing, great singing, and great production. This disc sounds much better than their first 2 realeases. I like the headspace too, but it pales in comparison to the CM. The headspace while great for what it is, tends for me to be a little repetitive.

Just my opinion, I guess. I can't wait til everyone else hears the whole album. In my opinion the shorter songs on the CM are amazing songs and I actually prefer them to the longer tracks, except for the chorus of burn after reading, which is excellent. And btw, the guitar player of cm is me of the best guitar players in the genre by a landslide.
