What was the last CD you bought, and what do you think about it?

I picked up Vanden Plas' Far Off Grace yesterday. It was sorta an unexpected find, and I've been looking for that album, so I wet my pants when I saw it.

I think it's great. Heavier and simpler than The God Thing and Beyond Daylight, but it's still Vanden Plas goodness.

It is NOT heavier than The God Thing.

Last ones I got were Divine Wings of Tragedy (my store finally got it in) and In Flames - Reroute to Remains

Divine... is greate of course, I just finally bought an original. Reroute ... is good, but you need to be in the right mood or else it can get annoying.

Megadeth's Rude Awakening ....though it was cool initially, now I'm just back to listening to my old Kamelot CDs ... should I sell it so I can scrape enough cash to buy SX's Odessey or Kamelot's Epica?

The most recent purchases I got were:

Edguy - Vain Glory Opera: fucking LOVE it, I can't believe how much ass these guys kick 0_0

Demons & Wizards - Really cool, but not what I was expecting. The music leans more towards Iced Earth than Blind Guardian.

Nightwish - Century Child: Again, I fucking LOVE it. I like the etherial/orchestral quality of the music (keyboard parts) and I think Tarja has a beautiful voice. Shes much less "operatic" on this CD than what Ive heard from other albums, which is a plus.

Evergrey - Recreation Day: I need to listen to it some more. Its pretty good I guess, the singer gets on my nerves.

Rage - Unity: And for a third time, I fucking LOVE It. I had NO idea how much talent was in this band. I will definately be looking foward to seeing them at PP. They rip!

Dream Theater - Awake and Images and Words together.

Both are fun. James Labrie is fun to listen and sing along with.

I got Rage - Unity recently too & it was stuck in my cd player for at least 2 weeks despite all the other new CDs waiting their turn..good stuff!! Need to get some more of their CDs before September, for sure. And I'm with ya on the asskicking-ness of Edguy, Yngvai X..I love those guys!!!

Also just got Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild (thanks Aki!) & am loving it as well! Most folks aren't that impressed with it, but I dig it & that's all that matters to me..screw all the naysayers :)

Michael Angelo - No Boundaries
I like it a lot. He's fast, but theres still enough melody to keep me interested.

Children of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
I love it, Alexi's solos rule! Normally I wouldn't like the death vox, but I don't mind these for whatever reason.

Thats pretty much it recently, I had to save up for my Boss Metal Zone.

Iced Earth-Alive in Athens

I think the only other live album that matches this is Live on the Edge of Forever...

Opeth-Blackwater Park

My favorite of the three Opeth albums that I own. I still need to pick up Still Life and Morningrise...

Devin Townsend - "Accelerated Evolution"
This is definately my No. 2 album of this year behind Evergrey. It's simply a work of genius. Dense, beautiful, unique music.

I have recently picked up:

Evergrey - Recreation Day. Beautiful, and Tom's voice is SO AMAZING AND EMOTIONAL!!!!!!!! Love him.

Stratovarius - Elements pt. 1. Pretty good. I like it better than the other strato stuff, but i do like them.

Cradle of Filth - Damnation and a Day. Ok, flame me all you want. It's not bad musically, but Dani's vocals take time to get used to.

Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. WOW!!! i have had a burned copy of this album for a while, but i HAD to buy it. Amazing

other comments: I need to get the new sonata arctica. I have the Victoria's Secret single and that song is so goddamn amazing. Wow... need the album!!! Also, i have had hate crew deathroll by bodom for a few months and that is easily my favorite album of the year, and pretty damn close to favorite album ever. Sorry, but Bodom is king!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still love symphony x though... very much do i love my SymX cds *cuddles up to V and The Odyssey* anyway... that's about it.

Michael Romeo - The dark chapter.....
I love this cd,and i think it is the best cd i have ever bought...:)
It's just simply the best.....:)

Star One "Space Metal"

Someone on this board said Russell sounded fantastic on this CD so I checked out the soundclips on their site, loved the music, bought the record, and discovered one of the coolest albums I've ever heard. And I don't even listen to it because Russell is on it anymore (although that is a big plus) but because the music is great, all the singers are amazing and the whole concept is just amazing. Sure they sing about space, but it's not in the silly manner (RHAPSODY, anyone?), because there is something more intelligent about this.
