Keys to achieving success on guitar.

1. Practice until your fingers bleed (at least 2hrs daily for an average guitar player, 4hrs if you want to be recognized, 8 if you want to achieve pro status, 8+ if you want go beyond pro status, a virtuoso, a master of the instrument, what Malmsteen, Vai and all the other guys wanted)

2. Buy a bottle of patience at the nearest drug store

3. Buy a metronome at a music store

4. Buy Petrucci's Rock Discipline at www.amazon.com

5. And stay off tabs whenever possible.

1 Bullshit, i play an hour a day.

2. Meh

3. Bullshit, i've never owned a metronome.

4. That book is the most amelodic shite ever and it makes you regret being born. Buy Troy Stetina's speed mechanics.

5.The irony of your previous statement, buy a tab based book then avoid tabs? Dude, this is a different age, tabs are a nessiscary part of life.

I've been playing for 12 years, and I still found "Downfall" to be challenging. I can play it now, but I need to warm up like fucking hell before playing it (well, duh). Another challenging solo was "Lake Bodom" because of those fast runs that start low on the fretboard.

Loser.

YES!!!
I fucking love that keyboard solo. I love it how he plays the A note, fades it out while fading in another A an octave higher and then carries on...wow.

janne does a shit like that on the keysolo of Bodom Beach Terror, but with the E note...

Yeah, I was going to say that too, I guess I forgot.

Btw, on Alexi's yellow and black "Arrowhead" guitar, has he scratched it himself? He has 3 crosses where the neck pickup would be, "CKY" at the top, "24/7" underneath the bridge, something behind the bridge and "Fuck hi-fi" on the back.

I think the crosses look really cool.

There's a lot of good solos! Every song has a good solo but the best were Kissing The Shadows and CHildren of BOdom. I think those were the most complicated and Alexi pulls them off very well live.
