Having listened to metal for 20 years i never thought that metal as genre would be infected like others and simply suck as it does these days. Im having a REAL HARD time finding anything that is good these days. Mainly listening to death metal i cant even find anything remotely good, all these deathcore, screamo crap bands and the other death bands just arent good anymore, what is happening to metal?

screamo crap? I think you are looking for death metal at the completely wrong places man. And the genre is as good as ever, its just a huge ocean of shit out there. You just need to sit down and take your time and seach. Check out the recommendation thread.

I don't believe that you've been listening to metal for 20 years because if you really do, you would know where to look for quality metal bands and not just rely on what you see on TV or the radio.

Go Figure.

You're Gay.

Metal is currently in a very healthy state after going off the rails in the mid-late 90s. There is a plethora of amazing bands out there both old and new catering for every possible taste from bedroom-recorded black metal to super cheesy euro-power. Massive resurgence of 80s style metal too which is just brilliant. This forum is a good place to start, just trawl through the threads and thou shalt find. Like someone said its just a question of sifting through all the crap and finding the good stuff, there's plenty out there.

I can believe it. My dad had virtually no metal bands beyond the early 90's until I started showing him some more, but he loves the same old stuff he's known for decades. He still thinks that Nirvana killed metal. Some people just don't know how to use the internet.

Expand your tastes. Death metal isn't at its peak today, but sure there a lot of good bands.

As I see it, black metal, though, is having its peak right now. It is simply amazing how many great bands there are now... Maybe I'm the only one to think this?

I would say thrash has recently resurged past whatever newest black metal is coming out right now. Probably just my personal taste though.

Considering that to leave the sound that was originally developed as thrash would put it into another sub-genre, I don't see why this is a problem. The issue is whether the modern thrash bands can do a better or equal job at it, and bands like Ares Kingdom and Vektor are doing so.

New thrash bands don't have to throw in avant-garde electronic polka influences to do something fresh, but so many of them just ape Slayer, Exodus, and the Teutonic Trio. Simply progressing to 1986-ish (which admittedly some (Warbringer, for example) are doing) would be a huge step up.

And I always thought that Ares Kingdom was death metal. I've heard a few of their songs which were actually pretty good IIRC, but haven't explored beyond that. Probably should. As much as I love Black Future, even it isn't the ground-breaking classic a lot of people make it out to be. Even if mixing Voivod and Destruction was original on its own merits, Obliveon already did it in 1990. The greatest new thrash bands today are ~90th percentile material of the late 80's/early 90's.

As you said, Ares Kingdom is toeing the line of death metal. This is what I mean by that to try and put your own spin on thrash will inevitably put you on the line/mixing with another subgenre, kind of like black metal has been doing for the last 10 years-ish.

There is a distinct thrash sound, and many of the new bands are "doing it right", without sounding formulaic or stale.
