Whats this I hear about Opeth re-releasing Blackwater Park???

oooooh, dont forget about the video guys...i remember myself a year ago emailing to music for nations begging to at least CONSIDER releasing the visual recording of the production of BWP.
oh, before i forget, this is to guys who dont like the idea of re-releases: this is not the first time opeth - well, actually it's the label- is doing this.

I think its fine for them to do it, so what if they will be making more money. This is the best band, they deserve it! More money means they will probably get to tour the US more. Because they said they couldnt tour as much couse of money issues. I think its sweet. I havnt bought a cd since blackwater park came out. All I listen to is opeth basically, and some other crap I download. Buy the CD! SUPPORT OPETH!

Yes I know this... bit those were Identical copies and I'm sure they were brought out in part cos the majority of the first run of the earlier albums had been sold (So if people still wanted them, and they do, obviously they'd have to press new ones)

With this situation it's easy enough to simply not but them , but with a 'half-and-half' album, you find yourself paying for songs you already have....

Like I said though... I'll still be scrounging the money together to get this title... and I'm not totally pissed, it's just.... irritating.

NO, spike, those re-releases were not identical...just like this blackwater park re-release, they had bonus tracks...morningrise re-release had "into the frost of winter" and MAYH had "eternal soul torture"...

Morningrise has Eternal soul torture, Orchid has Into the frost of winter and MAYH has two covers by Opeth.

I´ll definately gona get this release but how limited will it be???

I managed to get "originals" of Orchid and Morningrise. They had the logo on the front though and it was definately the new one. Though the CDs themselves have the old logo. But anyway, no bonus tracks. I'm glad they kept the bonus stuff to another CD on this one. Those really mess things up for me.

I hope it's not too expensive either. I have a lot of other things I could buy but I have a burning need have normal physical copies of things like this.

Sorry, my bad. I keep forgetting this 'cos I only have the re-releases of the bands first 3 albums. My brother was the one that bought Opeth originally but then he moved down south so I had to get by with burnt copy's for a couple of months... and of course those 'Bonus' songs had been available for so long on the net and looked like they would never get released that I already had 'em in mp3 format. Anyway after my brother had been gone for a few months and I couldn't find the original Opeth albums released, they announced the re-releases, so I snapped them up :) .....and just after that I got the LP's. So yeah, anyone who's been into Opeth for more than a year should already have been 'up to date' before the re-releases came out.....

My 2 cents: ;)

Re-releases with bonus tracks piss me off, and I view it as a major fucking slap in the face for fans. If you release an album, release the fucking album and leave it at that, don't revisit the thing a few months later when everyone has gone out and bought it already. Release 2 versions at once if you want, so people can choose, but not this way. I realise this is a label decision (as it always is :(), so no hard feelings towards the band, but I won't be buying it (and I can most definately afford it).

Luckily my copy of BP costed only 11,50 euros, so I think I will "trade" it in a local second-hand music shop for the re-release. I'm still pissed off. :grr:
