What's up with Nuendo?

I've been using Protools for a little while and tried Nuendo for the first time...I'm having problems recording and latency issues...I selected the Asio for the the Digidesign hardware and set the latency to the lowest setting but when I quad track with a click the timing is all screwy...any advice would be helpful. thanks

checked "direct monitoring" box?
how are you monitoring? after nuendo or directly a t soundcard?
nuendo usually does compensate for latency
