What's your favorite band besides Iron Maiden?

Ones that I've been listening to forever:

Megadeth
Judas Priest (more the 70s than 80s)
Van Halen with Dave
Black Sabbath (Ozzy & Dio)
Anthrax
AC/DC with Bon
Rush (more the 70s than later)

Ones that I've gotten into just the last few years:

Death
Mastodon
Opeth

Alter Bridge has the guitarist of Creed right? Yeah that guy is great!

New bands, or I guess newish bands, you may laugh at me, but I love Evanescence! I have everything by them.

Alter Bridge basically is Creed with a new singer. The guitarist is called Mark Tremonti and he's awesome!! I was lucky enough to meet him at the start of the year and he's a top bloke!! :worship:

I like Evanescence too - Fallen is a great album. Not listened to The Open Door as much but I still like it.

Open Door are better compositions and production, but Falled rocks!

I have lots of unreleased Evenescence stuff from 1998-2002 before they got signed. Real interesting stuff.

So all the members of Creed besides Scott Stapp are Alter Bridge with a new singer?

I saw Creed a long time ago and was really impressed by the amount of emotion and heart they had.

What are people's favourite "new" bands i.e. from the 90's onwards .

My favorite ORIGINAL bands whose first album was released in or after 1990 are:

Primus
Symphony X
Zero Hour
Nevermore
Spiral Architect

and locally, Prototype (who've opened for The MaidenS a few times, including at my 1st MaidenS show, March 1st 2002)

Prototype rocks! They do a mighty fine rendition of "Sea of Madness" ta boot!

Yep. The line-up is Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, Scott Phillips and Myles Kennedy. Alter Bridge are amazing and a fantastic live band as well. :kickass:

Lately the new Death Angel is unbeleivable. I can't take it off. Jenna, did you catch them in Glascow?
Also love Metallica...even St Anger...love the message 'cuz I can relate, but it's also the rawness i dig. I know they say the new one will be be very different, but whatever I like it all. I'm just easy like that and not a snob.
Then, of course the good 'ol Slayer, Preist, AC/DC, ABBA, 1st 6 VH, Exodus, Testament, Hall & Oates...

ABBA & Hall & Oats?

By the way, why was John Oats even there? Anyone know what purpose he served? I mean, at least Art Garfunkle sang.

No I didn't. I don't even know what they sound like!!

And I love you btw!!!!

Also ABBA are fucking awesome!!! I was very happily singing along to Mammia Mia the other day, that's my favourite ABBA song.

Hall and Oates - one of my faves - Abandoned Luncheonette is a fantastic record! Even though John Oates was born in NY - PA claims 'em as the boys who made good! :headbang:

But in reply to your question, Acujer - John Oates sang, too! Check their vocal harmonies! It's what put them on the map initially (especially to me- I've always been a freak for the vocal blend) Smooth as silk, those boys were!

I think he also was heavily involved in production as well.... That and the songwriting made him more than just the guy with the mustache next to the hot blonde dude!

"Smooth as silk, those boys were! "

Kind of like Lionel, who's easy as Sunday Morning.

Kind of makes me want to smoke a Kool Menthol on satin sheets.

I remember John Oats playing guitar and not singing though. Maybe I forgot about their harmonies.

Not to rain on your parade but I absolutely hate The Eagles with a passion and think Hotel Calfornia sucks balls big time! What a crap band and crap song! I hope I never hear that song or the even worse the acoustic version ever again. Almost as bad as Freebird!

When I lived in Asia fro 3 years, you'd hear Hotel California everywhere. That and Mariah Carey's Titanic Theme. Both bloody shite!

I do love Joe Walsh though.

Ok. :) (and it was Celine Dion, not Mariah Carey).

1) I love Haggis! I have celebrated burns (sp) night in Scotland at Turnbury Golf Course..was just fab.

2) Megadeth
3) Swallow the Sun
4) Machine Men

I don't like prog metal either particularly. I'm not a big Rush fan (I think you either love or hate Geddy's voice), and I can't stand a lot of the power metal like Dragonforce and so on.

But, I highly doubt many people love Swallow the Sun like I do...and that's just A-OK :)
