Also it's a tough call but i'm going to say In the Shadoe of Our Pale Companion. I love the entire thing, well maybe i'm not entirely thrilled with A Desolation Song but i can deal with it.

I agree alot with spaffe's message. Seems totally inconsistant in comparison to the totally absolute and perfect Ashes Against the Grain. With this album I get my music dose just right.

"I am the wooden doors" reminds me a lot of Ulver's "I troldskog faren vild"...but then most Agalloch reminds me of Bergtatt

Every time I hear the latter track, it makes me love The Mantle a little bit less (though nothing on earth could displace it from my top ten of all time)...a blueprint for Agalloch if ever there was one.

heh yea i remembered that last night when i layed down to go to sleep but i wasn't about to get back up to reply or edit my post. If i remember correctly Lurch would liken us as The Pink Crew or Royal Pinkage whenever the subject of Agalloch came up. Guess they aren't manly enough for the resident big man hah.

i dunno. never listen to this one much. all those damn instrumentals annoy me. i like the last track though.

I usually bring this album with me on forest journeys. Not always, but damn near. If not, some other Agalloch album (or Bergtatt, any Empyrium, October Rust, Songs from the Wood, Borknagar s/t, etc.).

About a year ago, after I dunno, 300 mountain trips with said Agalloch album, I put The Lodge on repeat for about 30 minutes. And I can now say definitively that The Lodge is my favoUrite song on The Mantle.
