When is the next reveal?

You two need to make sure this doesn't degenerate any further.

It will be done, you have my word. No need to get low or anything. :)

Edit - In fact, I'm going to delete my last post in order to do my part in cutting it and getting back to the subject. =)

Back to the subject, this thread got me interested in finding more out about the whole growling thing and I ended up finding a lot of interesting and cool stuff, that proves that growling is not simply screaming your lungs out. If anyone is interested (it's a LOT of stuff I came across), I'd be more than happy to share with you.

I remember taking growling advice from Stu Block (Into Eternity) and he mentioned he'd eventually get me more info on it... I personally find it to be rather cool. It does take a while to get used to it, but when you do, it all gets better.

Okay i will go out on a limb here and vote my guess for the next band revealed. It's going to be a band with a drummer, and a cool guitar player and a Awesome bass player, and other assorted instruments, and two of the members may be related, and they may be from Europe, and they may have funny sounding names and speak with an accent. My guess is...........?
I don't have the faintest idea, but i am hoping TAROT.

LOL John, it'd be great to see Tarot at ProgPower. This way we will never hear Aki going on about the 18 times he's seen the band...

Tarot...yes! One of my choices...would love to see these guys. Crows Fly Black is good...doesn't rock me as hard as Suffer Our Pleasures, but it's still good. Messenger of Gods & Before the Skies Come Down kick my ass!

I'm forced to say that I agree with you 100%. No, 200%. Good call.

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE yeah i guess seeing them one time in the awesome setting of ProgpowerUSA will make up for all the times he has gotten to see them. Just one time ONE TIME!!!!! I would love to see them. Hint Hint Hint

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but let me put the kabosh on Tarot now. You have to understand that Marco is going to be wrapped up in Nightwish next year and the possiblity of him having free time for Tarot is minimal. Nightwish have yet to establish any sort of schedule beyond recording the instruments for the new disc. With the vocal hunt getting delayed, things are pushed back now. Yes, there is always a chance that he could be available, but I have to weigh the risks of a sure thing in terms of booking vs. something that had a minimal chance to begin with.

Or you could approach Marco this way... :danceboy:

Dude, make the time, put it in the schedule, the demand for a TAROT performance is huge. :hotjump:

Let his other band plan for his absence now. :Smokedev:

It would be kinda nice if Glenn (and Shane) programmed the fest so that each band is the oddball compared to the other 9 (or 13 if you count Shane's night).

Call me dumb (which I am sure Milton will), but what do you mean Ben? Do you mean all bands would be "oddballs"?

Which is why you should go ahead and book Nightwish AND Tarot

j/k, whatever you choose is fine with me. I don't want you to have to go through another Nevermore fiasco.

well that blows. I have been getting Tarot's back catalog sicne I had a feeling you might add them. :waah: Oh well, I can just enjoy the cds now.

growling completely sucks. this is what i thought when i first heard it, i was young and stupid. ive clearly discovered not only the level of talent it does indeed take, but it fits alot!
epica, FUCKIN KALMAH, and finntroll were the first bands i had heard with a good deal of grunts/growls. i really enjoy it now, as ive also gotten into ones like in Raintime and Ensiferum. i welcome this type of vocals now as much as i do any other.

anyway, back to the next reveal. as far as i know by longtime attendees telling me, this type of singing usually doesn't get that much exposure at this festival? well, what a great year. got raintime which has a good deal of them, i think Kalmah would be amazing as the other band to incorporate them... :)

that said, other bands i think would be great are, well, the 2 that ive seen most mentioned- Nocturnal Rites and Tarot.

I'm with you John... I'm late in finding out about the greatness of Tarot and was also hoping that they would be announced as part of PPVIII.

Oh, well... guess we'll just have to go visit Aki the next time they play.

Bummer.
But I suspected all along the scheduling might conflict. Kept hoping though. Oh, as for "next time they play", Aki's informed me a gig with Machine Men and a few other bands in January at a ski resort. Anyone up for skiing/boarding in Lapland? Daylight is highly over-rated btw in comparison to good metal and good snow.

(I keep trying, Aki! )
