When you buy music, what format do you prefer?

Throwing in my opinion. I voted for .wav files. I would rather rip .wav files or convert them to flac from CD instead of downloading. I prefer to have the actual CD because its nice to have when you need to go somewhere or you want to play in elsewhere, but for me most of the time I listen to music on my computer and I have a music folder where all my tracks are. I like to be able to search through my computer and have a playlist that I can jsut play without worrying about needing to put a CD in my drive. Still outside my computer world, I HAVE to have the CD to play it in a stereo when friends are over and I don't want to party in my computer room or when I want to listen to tunes in the car.

I know, I feel dirty saying it.

Posted a thread here on a shootout between various mp3 settings and .wav. See who can guess what. Might save some people some harddrive space, or convince others of how shit mp3 is.

I can beat that: not only do I buy the cd and rip it to mp3, but I also put it in a cd plastic bag to protect it from dust. They are similar to these, only that I can fit the whole album and not just the cds:

I occasionally don't even let my friends grab my cds to take a look at them, haha. CD nazi.

Lol, in my case I just don't care once I've ripped it. I lose half my CDs. Worst case scenario I burn all the mp3's onto a blank CD and write the band name on with a Sharpie. I'll buy to support the band, the actual CD means nothing to me.

CD over vinyl generally. Until I have a 2 grand holy grail turntable, I shall remain extremely wary of wearing them out. >:}
I have a fair few albums on both mediums though.

Very rarely even play music from a computer now, let alone buy it.

+1! Which is why half the time I don't even bother with the CD's

CDs. I rarely ever buy music in digital format, only if I am forced to do so (Mass Effect OST )
