Where do you live?

Wow, I never really knew much about Basque Country Jevil, thanks for the lowdown! You guys speak your own language, that's pretty wild - is it related to Latin at all, like the other European classical languages? And how big is your population? And is Basque Country actually a state? (with defined borders, an independent gov't, etc.)

We have our own language but the spanish influence and the dictatorship in the 20 century (who forbid to speak basque) almost killed it. In big cities spanish is the first language though, due to many inmigrants who came to work in the past.
Not related with latin. It is unique language.
Politically in Spain there are 19 Autonomies with their own government but all dependants of the Central Goverment in Madrid. Similar to your states.
Population is 3.000.000.
Half of the population wants to be a independent country, and the other half wants to be a part of Spain. That is the conflict. The political party that rule Basque Country is Pro-Independence and is ruling since the beginning of the spanish democracy in 1976.

Historically Basque Country borders were wider including french territory and in the basque-french area people (not many) speak basque. Many names of towns and villages in the western pyrennees and south-west of France are in Basque language.

I've been in San Sebastian couple years ago, and I can truly say that it's one of the most awesome places I've been so far. Generally speaking Spain is the most beautiful country I've seen and if I could pick a place where I want to live, it would definitely be somewhere there.

Yes, San Sebastian is awesome. Sonata Arctica wrote a song to this city. When they came on tour with Stratovarius years ago they fell in love with the city.
