Friday:
If I get rail during Illusion Suite, I'll most likely be stuck there for the rest of the day - they're actually the only band on the day's bill I'm not fond of, but I'm willing to see if their live show wins me over. If my nine-hour standing exercise doesn't come into fruition, then...

Stormwarrior: Seats at the beginning, edging to the floor if they pump me up enough :)
Oceans of Sadness: Floor
DGM: Most likely seats
Delain: Vendors/food/merch, checking back now and then to see if I can catch "Frozen" and the duets with Marco and Liv - their other songs just haven't grabbed me...

Sure, I need to catch up on The First 48.
And besides, everyone else that stays for the the whole night likes having chinese food awaiting their wee-hour return.

But seriously-- of the bands I'm taking in, I'm extremely excited.
 
I'm not going to know until that week exactly what I'll be doing, since I'm on a mission to listen to as much of every band playing as I can before the festival to try to get the most I can out of it. :) When I bought my tickets last November, the only bands I'd heard were Leaves' Eyes, Delain and Kamelot.
 
If work and wife did not preclude me from joining the festivities, my schedule would be:

Illusion Suite - seats
Blackguard - Vendors/bar
Leaves Eyes - Hotel, hopefully back in time for "Elegy", the only song worth a damn.
Seventh Wonder - Two songs, if OK, Stay. If not, bar
Tyr - Viking Helmet? Check. Inflatable hammer with "Heathen Hammer" painted on it? Check. Rail? Bet your ass!
Nocturnal Rites - Floor
Kamelot - Seats, Kamelot is one of those bands you need to just rever the completeness. Can't do that on the rail.

Stormwarrior - May blow this one off
Oceans of Sadness - Lunch/Dinner/bar/vendors
DGM - Seats
Delain - Seats, move up to rail
Tarot - RAIL!
Hammerfall - seats, probably split after "Legacy of Kings"

Blackguard: floor, inching closer
Leaves Eyes: floor, pushing closer
Seventh Wonder: floor, bribing people to get off the rail with what little money I have
Tyr: hopefully rail, changing my underwear afterwards
Nocturnal Rites: seeing what i can after the change, floor while i'm there
Kamelot: IN THE PIT AND SCREAMING
announcement: either still in the pit or searching for my friends (drunkenness is the factor here). probably still screaming though

Saturday:
Mostly seats for bands I don't know; I'm hoping to walk away with some new favorites. Most likely on the floor for Tarot and Hammerfall.
 
Ben is just the resident d**k, a**hole, twit with an attitude, whichever you choose. We all know it, and the more we beg him to lighten up, the more of a kick he gets out of it.

At least some things never change.

I'm not a huge fan of being on the rail in this venue, where the best sound and sightlines seem to be from about halfway back on the floor. Plus, I couldn't latch on to a rail spot for the whole night anyway, because I absolutely hate standing around waiting for bands to start playing. So I leave and hang out in the semi-circular hallway or outside right when one band ends, and only go back in when the next band starts. Instead of getting increasingly frustrated about why it's taking so damn long for them to start playing (it seems like a long time when you're just standing there, heh), going outside and walking around, talking to people, etc, makes it seem like the next band is on in no time.

I'm sorry that Kez feels this way. Doesn't matter if any of it is true (It isn't). Just that he keeps this perspective.
