I consider Atheist thrash/death and can't really use one or the other. I think they sound more like a prog-thrash band than say DM.

Disagree. There's some thrash in there but they are pre-dominantly death metal imo.

I think Piece of Time is definitely their thrashiest and would consider it more thrash than death IMO
