I would think any band invited to a festival and makes the trek certainly is deserving of exposure.

I would think any band invited to a festival and makes the trek certainly is deserving of exposure.

Band interviews are extremely time and energy intensive.

It takes me and my wife six solid months to interview, transcribe, and post all the interviews for ProgPower USA bands. Each interview takes me two weeks to prepare for and about an hour to conduct. Then, it takes about a week to transcribe. Finally, about a day to (minimally) edit the piece to make it ready for posting/printing. Multiply that by the number of bands appearing at HC 3 and you're looking at a mountain of work. In the case of ProgPower USA, it's 12 bands -- or about 12 weeks (three months!) just to transcribe.

Whomever is interviewing the bands for HC 3 (and I may have time to do a couple of them) will have his/her hands full from now until opening night or -- as is usually the case -- much sooner to allow for a printed program to be in the hands of each attendee.

Although it's fun to actually talk to the bands, I don't envy the people responsible for this year's Heathen Crusade printed program!

I hear ya! I spend a fortune buying every CD from each band, listening to them, reading the liner notes, perusing their web sites, reading reviews and forum postings, then thinking and thinking and thinking. Takes at least two weeks.

I always do phone interviews. The interaction results in killer interviews. If you haven't checked out mine yet, peruse the links in my sig file.

just an update. i requested all of the bands listed here. but havnt heard back. partly due to our editor's busy schedule. but hopefully i get atleast 2 of em.

I'm going to conduct interviews with Ancient Rites and Moonsorrow. I'd love to chat with a few other bands, but I won't have time...plus, my wife would kill me. She's the one who provides the transcriptions.

I've heard from Gunther (from Ancient Rites). I'm having trouble reaching Moonsorrow. But I have a few e-mails in to them. Now I just wait for a reply.
