Whiskey vs. Vodka

I don't like Bacardi usually (when I'm low on cash I'll pick up Bacardi 1873, which is an alright cheap rum), but I picked up this Bacardi 8 (8 years aged) and I actually very much enjoy it.

Uh huh. So Karen, you going to come up here and show me how to drink wine sometime this year?!

I hope so!!

Although, drinking wine is easy, just remember: nothing from a box, nothing that says "Tellow Tail" and absolutely NOTHING from end-caps in stores that is marked "$6.99"

;)

Hey, I plan a major west coast trip when I graduate!! :kickass:
WINEEEEE!!!

Hahaha, I hate Yellow Tail... I don't know what it is about that stuff. My father likes it. I'm sure I could show YOU a thing or two after all this Sommelier training :p

Hey Karen, I drink Smoking Loon. It's always $7 a bottle. Does this make me bad, or will you finally admit there's no proof to price = quality?

"nothing from a box" .......awwwwwwwwwww ;) Haha! Remembering all the bitch preppy chicks that would drag their boxes of crap around at parties in High School and be puked out at like 10:30. We had a great couple years here for wines, most of the Michigan Reislings are like 5-12 bucks a bottle and very tastey. LOTS of little mom and pop winery places around Traverse City that can be toured and sampled. Makes for a fun day.

Point #2: J Lohr Cabernet, $10 and Costco Merlot, $10. No need to spend mountains of cash on good wines at a lower price.

Are you kidding? I've never said good wine has to be pricey.
quite the contrary actually... I have many bottles in my regular wine cooler now that are from 6-12 bucks and they are all awesome. Wine doesn't have to be expenssive to be good. PERIOD.
With wine, you enjoy what ever you like... there are no rules... If you happen to like Smokin Loon: then who can tell u not to?
Wine is like art... it's subjective and can be argued about endlessly.

My comment about the "end-cap and the 6.99" actually is mostly true story about stores/vendors that try to get rid of "overstock" midiocre wine that didn't sell as good as they expected... I buy so much wine, that I have made friends with SOOOO many vendors/wineries, and they all say that ... haha!

Not all end-caps, and naturally not all wine, but that's one of my wine rules and I'm sticking to it!!

I enjoy the Smoking Loon Pinot Noir, but up here in Canada you have to pay taxes on alcohol... costs about $31 a bottle.
