Esthal - deep under forests alive...
Honestly, i think that the first album by Dissection is much better than the second one!
Though 'Storm...' has a better atmosphere during the whole cd, the songs are kind of boring(except the Intro and the first song).
The Somberlain has great songs, great moments and more variety.
I think because we are not talking about pure black metal here i might also take the better melodies as a point for The Somberlain...

Who shares my opinion or what do you think about this topic?

I share your opinion. I've always liked The Somberlain a lot more than Storm Of The Light's Bane. I find Storm.. a bit boring, whereas The Somberlain is great from start to finish.

The Somberlain has a couple of advantages over their subsequent release.

1. It's not as blatantly derivative of other acts as Storm...

2. The band remained cognizant of their limitations, and still understood that they were basically making old style heavy metal with death metal elements, stuck to appropriately simple, impact laden riffs rather than trying to hide their pedestrian roots under a veil of noodly "technical" riffs.
