i thought it was peter...but i saw someone saying that mikael perform guitar solos as well.

They usually share the longer solos. I think they both play the rhythm and leads depending on what parts are written. That'd be a good question, who's usually playing the riffs and leads?

In the video of Demon Of The Fall live I got from that one site, it looks to me like Mikael is playing the lead... but I can't really tell, it doesn't focus on Peter that much...

I know if I were in a band, and I was the main songwriter, vocalist, and lead guitarist, I'd want my second guitarist to play most leads live as it would be easier to focus on rhythm while singing. But that's just because I suck at playing and singing at the same time.

It actually seems like he plays the stuff you can't normally hear too well in the song, in those videos. Which is nice since his guitar is turned up higher live, so you can pick out melodies that you never noticed before.

My cd player back home wasn't working too well and I got to hear half of Orchid.. I like hearing how each half of the twin-guitar riffs is written.. same goes for the acoustic stuff.

When I play, I pick out the notes that stand out as a coherent melody, though when recorded, each half might not have done so. Damn, wish I could write music like that (he's a FIEND I tells you)

Yeah, that's crazy sometimes. Like the one in Night and the Silent Water at 1:00. If you listen to either side, neither sounds like the main melody you hear clearly with both. I guess your ear picks out the higher parts from each naturally.

Actually it sounds higher because Mikaels guitar is equalized with more mids and less gain, while Peter use pretty much the opposite sound. Dunno why they do that, as you can barely hear Peter's solos live.

That's the cool thing about harmonies. Same thing with the intro to Aces high by Iron maiden.

On the BWP lyrics section of the website, it gives the soloists for each song, and they're pretty much shared equally. And on Orchid and Morningrise there IS no specific rhythm and lead, both are equal.

Yes I've seen them live.
Also I've seen 5 live videos of them.
Trust me, Peter does solos.
You must be blind if you havent seen it ;) :p

Nada dude. Mikael played every solo and almost every lead part even when singing. He is the superior guitarist I believe.
